Aelori sat by the tree watching over Pandora who has her feet in the cold water. It made Aelori shiver for looking at it. Aelori was reading a book that she had found in the library.
It was all about the sacred 28th and other purebloods in the world. There were so many, listed all below each other, with a small description about them. The only last name that was missing was her mother's.
Her mom told her plenty of times that she had a magic family, but it never crossed Aelori's mind that maybe her grandmother or grandfather were a muggleborn. Her mother did tell her that her father was a half-blood.
This made her a half-blood too, if this was all true. So being called a mudblood was still hard for her. Muggleborns are in her family, and she would do anything to protect them, even if they aren't here anymore.
"What are you reading?" Pandora asked the girl, her cold feet stopping before her.
"First put on some shoes, you will freeze to death." Aelori said, pointing to her shoes.
Pandora padded over to her shoes, her feet leaving prints on the snow. Aelori closed her book and looked around her to see if anyone was watching.
"Can you keep an eye out for my bag?" She asked Pandora.
The girl was braiding her hair and hummed at the other girl.
"Where are you going?"
Aelori's eyes were on the forbidden forest. A small smile on her lips.
"Just watch out for the Nargels, Xenophilius has some troubles with them, especially this season."
"But the train is leaving soon." Pandora said. She had already packed, but she noticed her best friend hasn't.
"I am staying at Hogwarts this Christmas." Aelori said to her with a smile, hoping she would not feel to bad about it.
"They do say dinner here is very good once it is Christmas." Pandora laughed, having heard the stories of a lot of students about the meal.
"I have to go now, though." Aelori said to the girl. "Merry Christmas."
Pandora repeated 'Merry Christmas' to the blond.
Aelori smiled at her and quickly did one look over at her surroundings and shifted into her fox form. She padded over to Pandora and gave her a small lick on her hands.
She went towards the woods and disappeared in it. What she was going to was in some words illegal. In other words, she had no other choice.
Her mother had packed her some money, probably thinking she would find her father in less than a year. Months even. But having to buy clothing, and everything Dumbledore has provided, she had to give up a big portion of her money.
Now leaving her with less than nothing.
She went on a hike for around 30 minutes, until she found a perfect spot. It was a beautiful site. There was a small river that would give her fresh water. There were more than enough trees for shade of other creatures, but also enough to let her look at the stars at night.
She looked around some more and transformed back into her normal self. She focussed on a spell she had done a million times. A light formed around her, a big bubble around the field she wants to use.
A bash of wind flew over the woods, moving the trees and the bushes. Aelori walked a little further to the side and touched the invisible wall. There was a light glistering around her fingers and hand.
She grabbed a small twig from the ground and pinched it into her finger, drawing blood. She dropped it on the invisible shield. A white glow formed and moved all the way over the invisible shield.
The meaning of this was to protect her from anything outside of her walls. If they tried to walk through here, they will instantly turn around in confusion. Nothing more special than that.
Aelori moved towards the middle of the field. With her wand she made the trees disappear so there is an open field.
Now the hardest part. She concentrated on the structure, one she had dreamed about her whole life. Every night in the woods, her mind will go to that one house she wanted to make, wanted to build for herself.
With a flick of her wand, she made the foundation, the rooms, the essentials, until finally a full-on house was standing before her. It was a simple cabin, but it was just for an escape, a place to stay when she has to leave school for a little while.
Aelori had made a cabin for herself. It was small and very suitable for one person. It was made out of stone, with wooden beams to hold it all up. Green vines were climbing on the walls, giving it a nature feeling.
She opened the door to an empty house. But with a swish of her wand, different items, furniture and so much more were conjured up.
On her right was a small kitchen. There was a small table before the kitchen with four chairs surrounding it. On her left was the living space. There was a big fireplace at the opposite wall with a comfortable couch.
On the left wall was a big window looking out on the small river. She conjured up some pillows and blankets.
She went in a straight line forward, from the door. On the other side was another door. Upon opening there was a small hallway with two doors, one on her right and the other on her left.
She opened the right door and quickly decided to make it her bedroom. She conjured up a small desk with a mirror, a bed and a closet. Decorations will come later.
She went towards the other room, which was now her bathroom. That was a harder task than anything else, because she never really knew how to make everything work. But after a while of thinking she opened her eyes and with a swish and a flick everything started to work very well.
Magic, like electricity has its own way of moving. It is the same, but also very different from each other.
Aelori took another look around the cabin she had built. It still needed time, like more colour, more art, more pictures. The outside also needed something, like a garden with fresh food.
But her peace and quiet got quickly ruined. By a crashing sound through her window.
She held up her wand towards the now broken window, but she quickly used repairo to fix it. She walked up towards what seemed to be a rock. Glowing in red.
It started to move from side to side. Until it broke open, smoke filled half the room. And Aelori stood there, her mouth wide open at the thing that fell through her window.
