The vibrant, alien foliage of Felucia stretched out around the battlefield, a vivid tapestry of blues, greens, and purples. Explosions and blaster fire painted the sky with red and blue streaks as the 212th Battalion, led by Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, pushed forward against the Separatist forces entrenched in the outpost. Obi-Wan, standing tall amidst the chaos, directed his troops with calm precision. Cal and his squad fought over to him as Cal's double-bladed lightsaber flashed as he deflected,
"Master Kenobi!"
Obi-Wan turned briefly to him with a small smile,
"Ah, Axel, perfect timing,"
Obi-Wan ducked as a blaster fire shot over him and glanced at Axel,
"Push forward! We need to take that outpost!"
Cal nodded,
"We will go to the front lines,"
Obi-Wan nodded,
"Good, my Padawan is with two clones at the front. Her name is Nikki, and I don't believe you have had the chance to meet her,"
Cal's heart stopped as he slowly shook his head,
"No, sir, I haven't,"
Obi-Wan nodded,
"No time like the present,"
As they approached the front lines, a figure wielding a purple lightsaber danced through the enemy droids with deadly grace. Cal's heart skipped a beat. There she was—Nikki Mils, her movements fluid and precise as she deflected blaster bolts and cut down droids with Boil and Waxer shooting any that got closer. Hunter scanned the area,
"We'd better back her up."
Cal nodded, gripping his lightsaber tightly,
"Right, let's go!"
With a nod, the Bad Batch surged forward, their specialized skills turning the tide of battle. Wrecker plowed through droids with sheer strength. Tech provided precise, calculated shots, while Crosshair picked off targets from a distance with deadly accuracy. Echo hacked into the droids' systems, causing confusion and disarray. Cal moved with purpose, his lightsaber humming as he deflected blaster bolts and cut down droids. He got a little closer to where Nikki, Waxer, and Boil were,
"Hey, Commander!"
Nikki glanced over at him; she didn't seem to recognize him, but there was a flicker of familiarity in her gaze.
"Hey, new guy, don't know your name yet, but shout it out while we finish these clankers!"
Cal smirked as he slashed through another droid,
"Axel,"
"Names Nikki,"
Cal nodded, feeling a pang of mixed emotions. He had to remind himself that this was a different time, a different Nikki. She spun gracefully, slicing through a trio of droids with a single, fluid motion. Cal mirrored her, his double-bladed lightsaber spinning in a blur of blue light as he deflected incoming blaster fire and bisected another group of droids. Together, they moved like a well-oiled machine, each covering the other's back as they advanced through the chaotic battlefield. A droideka rolled into view, its shields snapping into place as it opened fire. Nikki leaped into the air, her lightsaber cutting a brilliant arc as she landed behind it and drove her blade through its shield generator. The droideka sputtered and collapsed, its blasters falling silent.
Waxer and Boil fought alongside them, their blasters taking out any droids that slipped past the lightsabers. Waxer, with a focused intensity, aimed carefully and shot down a droid trying to flank Nikki. Boil, meanwhile, provided cover fire, his blaster rapidly firing into a cluster of battle droids. Hunter, wielding his vibroblade, sliced through a droid's chassis with precision, then turned to fire his blaster at another target,
"We need to keep this momentum up!"
Tech's voice crackled over the comms,
"I've identified a weak point in their defensive line. Sending coordinates now."
Echo nodded,
"Copy that,"
Echo fired off a series of shots, taking out several droids that threatened to flank them. Wrecker barreled through another wave of droids, laughing with exhilaration,
"This is what I'm talking about!"
The battle raged on, with the combined efforts of the 212th, the Bad Batch, and the two Jedi pushing the Separatists back. As the droids began to falter, Obi-Wan joined again. Nikki smirked at him,
"Hey, Master, finally joining us?"
Obi-Wan smirked,
"Come, young one, how else would you gain experience leading if I do all the work?"
Waxer laughed,
"Our Vod-ika is a natural leader, General Kenobi,"
Cody nodded his head,
"That's because Rex and I trained her,"
Hunter joined them,
"Generals, we've nearly taken the outpost. Just a few more pushes."
Axel and Obi-Wan nodded,
"Great work, Hunter, let's keep pushing,"
Obi-Wan smiled,
"The battle will be soon over,"
A squad of B2 super battle droids emerged from the tree line, their wrist blasters spitting fire. Nikki and Cal moved to intercept, their lightsabers weaving a deadly pattern as they deflected bolts back at their attackers. Cal leapt forward, slicing through the lead droid's torso and kicking its upper half into another droid, knocking it off balance. Nikki followed up with a flurry of strikes, dismantling the remaining droids in seconds.
As they fought, Cal couldn't help but steal glances at Nikki. He wondered how much of their future she could sense, how much she might already know. But there was no time for questions, only the immediacy of battle. With a final coordinated assault, the Republic forces overwhelmed the Separatist outpost. Droids lay in heaps, and the surviving Separatists were in full retreat. Obi-Wan, Nikki, Cal, the 212th, and the Bad Batch stood amidst the aftermath, catching their breath. Obi-Wan walked over with Cody and Nikki to Cal and the Bad Batch,
"Thank you for the support, Axel, and it seems like you found the perfect squad to command,"
Cal briefly looked behind him to his squad with a small smile on his face,
"It appears that I have,"
"I will report to Master Yoda, you can join us if you wish,"
Cal shook his head,
"It is quite alright, Master, I will leave the debriefing to you,"
Obi-Wan chuckled and left with Cody while Nikki hung back,
"Hey, Axel?"
Cal glanced at her,
"Yeah?"
Nikki squinted her eyes at him,
"Have we met before? You seem familiar,"
Cal shook his head,
"We have yet to meet. I was with my friend, Sora, on Attalon before stumbling upon the 501st when we left the planet...maybe in another life?"
Nikki shrugged,
"Yeah, possibly. It was nice to meet you, Master Axel,"
Cal immediately shook his head,
"Oh, no, I am not a Master, I am a Jedi Knight,"
Nikki shrugged,
"And I am a Padawan, so therefore, you are my superior, so I should call you Master...I am still learning about titles sometimes...but I know that one for sure,"
Cal chuckled and nodded,
"Alright, it was nice meeting you too, Nikki,"
Nikki smiled,
"May we meet again,"
"May we meet again,"
