What They Left Behind

Ben Kenobi picked up his communicator with a weight on his shoulder,

"Senator, have you found anything?"

Bail sighed and shook his head,

"Nothing. It is as if that old cruiser vanished into thin air."

Ben sighed and looked away,

"Do you suspect that the empire has them?"

Bail shook his head,

"I do not believe so. Astor has been looking for them ever since he said he had an empty feeling. Young Ezra has been trying to find them too, but there is only so much one padawan can do,"

Ben nodded as he stroked his beard,

"It is odd."

"What did you feel?"

Ben looked over at the image of Bail,

"Well, as it is known, when you have a strong bond with someone, you can sense their presence. Ever since Nikki has become my padawan, I have sensed her. Just as I did with Anakin before he turned to the dark side. That is why it was so painful for all of us during the purge. We felt all of the deaths as they happened. Right now. I do not sense her at all. It is as if she disappeared as if her presence is no more, yet I know she is not dead."

Bail frowned,

"Do you think they found it?"

Ben sighed,

"I do not know. For Nikki's sake, I hope they found the blue portal...but I am not sure,"

"She told me she returned to Earth once. Did you still sense her when she went back?"

Ben sighed and sat down,

"She returned only a month after she came. I remember it very clearly. Someone snuck into the Temple and planted a false holo-form video where Nikki thought Anakin, myself, and her other two mentors talked poorly of her. She ran away and ran right into the blue portal. We discovered what had happened and tried to find her. My connection with her was not strong at the time because it was only after her return that we discovered she was force-sensitive. Ahsoka claimed she was all right, but something blocked their bond. She could still sense her, but it was as if she was searching for her through water. The following month, she returned with a kyber crystal and her constructed lightsaber made out of Earth metals. Master Yoda assigned me as her Master, as Anakin already had Ahsoka. We did most of our missions with the 501st but sometimes I did send her with other Masters when I saw it would do her some good."

"How did she meet Cal Kestis? The two told me they met when they were still padawans before the purge,"

Ben chuckled at the small memory,

"Oh, that one is not something that I will ever forget. Cal's Master was Jaro Tapal, one of the only Lasat masters we had. Master Tapal and I were assigned to take over a separatist droid factory. We tasked Cal and Nikki to do some recon on the base while we discussed what the best course of action was. You could imagine our surprise when we sensed them in danger. We rushed over to the factory with our men and started the attack, only to see Cal and Nikki crashing through a window and holding onto a probe droid, looking like they had been through a pretty large battle. The probe crashed down, and Cal and Nikki landed, and as they landed, the base exploded. The two of us watched as they fought in perfect unison to take out the rest of the droids. Then we spotted one of the Sith Assassins, Ventress, jump out of the ruins and attack them. That was when Master Tapal and I stepped in, and Ventress retreated. We took the two to the medics, and they refused to leave each other's side. We consulted Master Yoda about it, and he said he sensed a bond between them. He told the two of us that they were force dyads, which is something that is not very heard of. It is dangerous, and the power of a dyad was as strong as life itself and the individuals who formed a dyad shared a connection that spanned across space and time. Master Tapal and I discussed everything in length and decided that it would be best if we had the two train separately and changed nothing in our methods. We tried our best to learn more about dyads but found very little information on them. We did not want to compromise them by keeping them together all the time. Although we did have some more shared missions before the Purge."

Bail nodded,

"Do you believe that they will be alright?"

Ben smiled softly and nodded,

"I believe in my former student, and I believe that Cal and Nikki will always protect each other. Do you think Astor will be alright?"

Bail sighed,

"I do not know. The kid has been frantic ever since they disappeared, and he has that Mandolorian stubbornness,"

Ben sighed and nodded,

"I am very familiar with that. Have you thought about pairing him with that Ghost Crew?"

Bail nodded,

"Yes, I have...I believe I will do so, but the clones are also worried about Nikki,"

Ben sighed and nodded,

"That, I am not surprised about, seeing as her two mentors believed for a long time that they outlived her,"

Bail nodded,

"Cody has asked about you,"

Ben smiled softly,

"Tell him that it is not his fault,"

"I have,"

"Well, tell him to stop being so kriffing stubborn,"

Bail laughed and nodded,

"I will, Master Kenobi. Until next time,"

"Goodbye, Senator Organa,"

Ben sighed and set down the communicator, and started meditating for answers.

"Obi-Wan,"

Ben immediately opened his eyes and was surprised to see the force ghost of his old master,

"Master Qui Gon,"

Qui Gon smiled at him softly and sat down in front of him,

"You are worried for Master Nikki,"

Ben sighed and nodded,

"Yes, I am. I can not sense her, but I know she is alive,"

Qui Gon nodded,

"The force works in mysterious ways, my old friend. The two are on a mission,"

"Why have they not contacted?"

"Because they did not know of this mission until it was upon them,"

Ben nodded slowly,

"Will they be alright?"

Qui Gon nodded,

"They must be. For our lives are in their hands,"

"What do you mean by that?"

Qui Gon smiled,

"Obi-Wan, do you truly believe that the Blue Portal, that the force, would send Nikki home when the Empire still rules? She was sent to us for a reason. That reason is being shown."

Ben frowned in confusion,

"So...if she is not on Earth...where is she?"

Qui Gon smirked,

"The true question is. Where in time is she?"
