Cassie's mind raced, trying to make sense of it all. Hermione Granger petrified. A match canceled. The whispers that the Chamber of Secrets had opened once more. It felt as if everything around her was falling apart, and the weight of Salazar Slytherin's bloodline pressing down on her shoulders made it all the more suffocating. one seemed to understand.

"Was it me?" she muttered to herself, pacing around the Slytherin common room. "Could it be?"

She rubbed her temples, trying to think clearly. The possibility gawed at her. Could her Gaunt blood have awakened something deep within her? Something she didn't know how to control? Something dark?

She couldn't be the one doing this. But who else could it be?

Determined to find answers, Cassie spent days holed up in the library, searching through dusty old tomes and ancient texts. The Chamber of Secrets. It held answers. And if anyone could uncover them, it was her.

The first question was easy enough: Where was the Chamber of Secrets?

Cassie had heard all the rumors, all the old stories. The Chamber was hidden deep within Hogwarts, concealed by Salazar Slytherin himself. But where? She needed more information. Her search led her to a certain ghost, a certain muggle-born who had died fifty years ago. Myrtle. Her death, though tragic, was the key. She had seen the Chamber once before.

Cassie's heart pounded in her chest as she recalled Myrtle's tale. Her voice haunted the girl's bathroom, echoing through Cassie's mind. Myrtle's clues had helped piece together the location. She wasn't the one behind it, but Myrtle knew something Cassie needed to understand.

The second question— Who opened it? —was trickier. She felt a pang of relief when she realized it wasn't her. She hadn't been in the right place at the right time, and she could confirm that she hadn't been the one to do this. But who else could it be?

Potter? Draco? Someone in her very bloodline?

No. It wasn't them. It couldn't be. The more she thought about it, the clearer it became: it wasn't her, and it wasn't anyone she knew.

But then, there was the monster.

What was the monster that lay within the Chamber?

Cassie spent hours in the library and when she started researching the creatures that could survive for hundreds of years, it didn't take long for her to stumble upon it. The beast of Slytherin's Chamber—the Basilisk .

Cassie shivered as she read the description. A gigantic serpent. Deadly fangs. A gaze that could kill. It was clear now. It was the Basilisk that had been terrorizing the school.

That was when the spiders started to make sense. They were fleeing the Basilisk. It was their mortal enemy, after all.

Her heart raced as she connected the dots.
