The Marauders were lounging under the beech tree by the lake, their laughter carrying in the crisp autumn air. James was busy trying (and failing) to balance a Snitch on his nose, while Remus read his book, pretending not to be amused. Peter, snacking as usual, grinned at Sirius, who leaned against the tree with his arm draped lazily over Aurie's shoulders.

"So, Rory," Sirius chuckled, his gray eyes sparkling mischievously, "you reckon I'd make a better Animagus than James, don't you?"

Aurie raised a brow, lips twitching into a smile. "You? Better than Prongs? Maybe if we're judging on sheer recklessness."

Remus glanced over the top of his book, hiding a grin. James, giving up on his Snitch-balancing act, shot Sirius a mock glare. "Oi, not all of us are trying to impress the ladies, Padfoot."

Aurie blushed ever so slightly, but Sirius just winked. "Jealousy doesn't suit you, mate. Besides, Rory knows a good catch when she sees one."

Aurie rolled her eyes, though her cheeks warmed under Sirius' gaze. There was something electric in the air between them, like a storm cloud waiting to burst—only no one seemed to notice but her. Well, maybe Remus did, but he said nothing, letting the moment pass with the quiet wisdom he always seemed to possess.

As the sun dipped lower, casting golden light over the lake, Sirius gave her shoulder a playful nudge. "You'll stick around, won't you, Rory? Can't have too much fun without my favorite partner-in-crime."

Aurie grinned, shaking her head. "Like I could escape the chaos even if I tried."

Sirius flashed that infamous grin of his. "Wouldn't let you, anyway."

Their eyes met for a moment longer than usual, and Aurie felt a flicker of something warm and unspoken. Before she could process it, James groaned dramatically, interrupting the moment.

"Oi, Padfoot, stop hogging Aurie!"

Sirius chuckled, breaking the spell, but the spark lingered. There was something brewing between them, but for now, it was wrapped in laughter and mischief, just like the Marauders themselves.
