Harbor City Sports Arena
It had been a week since that night at Flannigan's, and now the next major swimming event was here.
No doubt Ava would be here. Lena had not responded to any of Ava's phone calls or messages. It wasn't that she didn't want too. She just didn't know how to face her. She felt so stupid for running out like she did. She was also scared that she was really falling for Ava. And that it was going to be a one-sided love.
As she was warming up for the next event, Ava looked around the arena. She was yet to see Lena. She could still remember the look in Lena's eyes as Jake held her. She could see the hurt and it broke her heart. She'd tried calling and messaging but never got a response. Ava couldn't explain it, but this made her feel panicked.
When she'd spoken with Maya, her advice was to just give her a little time and space.
As she was thinking, Lena appeared on the otherside of the pool. She was with her team, and as beautiful as ever. Her heart racing, Ava strode over to where Lena was standing.
She was about to say hello, when she saw an unfamiliar women put her arms around Lena's neck and give her a kiss on the lips. They seem familiar with each other. Did she get a girlfriend? Is that why she wasn't replying to her messages?
Lena turned an saw Ava standing there, staring. Before she could say anything, Ava quickly turned and walked back to her team.
"Is that her?' Tia asked. "Yeah, that's her. But it doesn't matter. She's straight, and has a boyfriend. It's just my wishful thinking," said Lena, looking downcast.
Giving her a quick hug, Tia said, "I wouldn't be so sure about that."
Race 3
Elana and Ava watched as Lena was swimming, "Have you gone to speak with Lena yet?"
"Yeah, but she was with someone. I think it's her girlfriend," said Ava sadly. "They were hugging and kissing."
"Are you sure? Maya never mentioned anything about Lena having a girlfriend."
"Well, it doesn't matter now. She hasn't been answering any of my calls or texts. I guess she doesn't want anything to do with me anymore." Ava put her hand to her chest, "It hurts Elana..."
"It's all that Jakes fault, " Elana said angrily.
"Forget it."
Race 5
Lena was racing again, while Ava stood quietly and watch her. A voice from behind, "It's not what you think?" Turning around, it was the women who was kissing Lena before. Annoyed, Ava said, "What? Are you talking to me?"
"Lena and I. It's not what you're thinking. We're not together or anything. Just friends, and occasionally was with benefits," said Tia. A grin on her face.
"I wasn't thinking anything..." Ava trying to avoid looking at Tia.
"Right, that's why you walked away almost in tears before when you saw me hugging Lena," Tia teased. "I never..."
"She likes you, you know? Lena. She likes you. A lot." Tia looked for a reaction from Ava.
"What!? Really?" Ava attempting to look nonchalantly. "I mean, that's cool." Tia smiled at her, "She's a great girl. If you like her, you shouldn't waste to much time. It wouldn't take long for someone to try and snatch her up."
Putting out her hand, "I'm Tia by the way." Ava shook her outstretched hand. "Ava." Tia nodded, "I know. Lena talks about you all the time. I mean ALL the time..."
Looking to the pool where Lena was about to finished her final lap, "Really...?" Ava smiled. "But if you're going to do anything, be sure about it. If you hurt her, I'll fucking kill you," said Tia, with a smile on her face.
Shocked, "I would never!" said Ava. Tia patted her on the shoulder before leaving. Ava look over to see Lena waving to the crowd as she'd just won again. Lena eventually saw Ava watching her.
Ava smiled and waved. Both could feel butterflies...
Change Room
As Lena stepped out of the shower, Ava was standing their waiting. When their eyes met, Ava shyly asked, "Can we talk?"
"Can I get dressed first?" Lena removing her towel.. "S..Sure!" As Lena dried herself off, Ava just stood there, taking it all in, etching the vision into memory. I'll can use this later...
"So, what's up?" The question pulling Ava out of her trance. "Oh, I was wondering if you wanted to join me tomorrow morning? I'm going to Harbor Park to train. It's a nice place to go for a run..."
"Sure."
"What really? Great!" Ava said excitedly. "I'll message you the details later?"
"Sounds good."
"Ok. Tomorrow then? Ok" Ava turned back and forth, not sure where to go, eventually deciding to leave.
Lena smiled, and clenched her fists, "Yes!" She's just too damn cute!
