Kevin's POV
When I finally awoke, the first thing I saw was his face. He lay nestled beside me, his breathing soft and even in sleep. A wave of affection washed over me, a profound sense of protectiveness towards this boy who was now irrevocably a part of me.
Carefully, so as not to disturb him , I slipped out of bed, my muscles slightly stiff from the unfamiliar exertion. A shower felt necessary, a way to wash away the lingering intensity of the night and gather my thoughts.
As the warm water cascaded over me, I replayed the events of the previous hours, the whirlwind of recognition, panic, and ultimately, connection.
Shower quickly, I made my way back to the room, eager to check on him . But as I approached the doorway, I heard a sharp thud, the unmistakable sound of something falling. My heart leaped into my throat.
I rushed into the room, my senses on high alert. David was on the floor, his limbs splayed at an awkward angle.
Panic seized me. "David! What happened? Are you alright?" I knelt beside him, my hands hovering, unsure where to touch, my mind racing with possibilities.
But he didn't answer. His eyes were open, but they didn't seem to register my presence. His gaze was fixed, unseeing, traveling slowly from my bare feet up my legs, my torso, my shoulder, finally settling on my face. Then he just stare on my chest.
There was a strange stillness about him, an unnerving lack of recognition that sent a chill down my spine. His expression was blank, unreadable. It was as if he were seeing me for the very first time, a complete stranger.
The connection we had forged just hours ago seemed to have vanished, leaving behind an unsettling void. My heart pounded in my chest, fear gripping me with icy fingers. What had happened to my mate?

( After Kevin entered bathroom)
David's POV
I blinked my eyes open as my sweet sleep was disturbed by light and the first thing I saw was the morning light peeking through the curtains.
The first tendrils of awareness snaked through the fog in my mind, drawn by the gentle warmth of sunlight filtering through an unfamiliar window.
A soft, unfamiliar scent tickled my nose, a blend of chocolate and something uniquely... strong. The surface beneath me was far too plush, too yielding to be my own worn mattress.
My eyelids fluttered open, and the reality of my surroundings hit me with the force of a physical blow.
This wasn't my room. The heavy, dark wood furniture, the rich, deep blue of the walls, the intricate tapestry hanging above the bed - none of it was mine.
A wave of disorientation washed over me, quickly followed by a rush of fragmented memories from the night before. The ballroom, Kevin's piercing gaze, the earth-shattering word mate, the sudden, overwhelming heat, the desperate question about Rose... and then... Kevin's gentle voice, asking for my consent.
A soft warmth bloomed in my chest at that memory, a fleeting sense of peace. But the details beyond that remained hazy, lost in the primal haze of my unexpected heat. I knew, instinctively, that I had given him my permission. But the specifics... they eluded me.
