Chapter 14

My POV
                     I woke up outside the prison, with Maka kneeling half-conscious next to me and Soul and Ruby standing over us.
"Soul, what are you doing here?!" I cried, anxiously, getting unsteadily to my feet.
"What am I doing here?" he echoed, before pulling out his cell phone, "Group text from Maka and Y/N. Maka—Don't leave the hospital and don't let anyone touch you. Y/N—And don't worry about us. We're just wandering around the prison."
"Well...I told you not to worry,"
"How am I not supposed to worry when you text me that?!?!"
"Guys!" Ruby pointed at the prison, which was shaking, before the door exploded and Zelena appeared.
"You should be glad we're here," Ruby said.
"Fine. We're glad. Come on, let's do this! Weapon forms, guys!"
"WAIT!" Soul cried, without warning. He turned to me, "Yes."
"Yes?"
"I want to date you—yes,"
All three of us spoke at the same time. Me—"Really? Okay."
Ruby—screamed.
Maka—"This is not the time, guys!"
"Sorry, I needed to get that out," Soul said, transforming and jumping into Maka's hands.
Ruby jumped into my hands saying, "I can't believe my ship just sailed."
"Easy, fangirl,"
Maka and I still swayed a bit on our feet, but the steadiness of Ruby's soul strengthened me a bit.
"What'd we miss?" said a voice behind us.
Blackstar and Kid were running up. Zelena grinned, "Goodie. The gangs all here."
"You're right on time," Maka quipped, but was overshadowed by Ruby squealing,
"Soul and Y/N are an item!"
Ignoring the scowl on Kids face, I said, "That's not important. Come on, we all have to soul link."
"It took just me and Maka last time," BlackStar pointed out.
"That was when she wanted us to catch her. Now, she's fighting to kill," Maka said.
"All four of us?" Kid asked, "We've never done that."
"I know. But we can do it. Just listen to Soul's song,"
We all focused on each others souls, until I heard it—Souls piano, as clear as if I was sitting in his apartment listening to his keyboard. The memory of him learning a song for me warmed my heart. But Zelena was charging an attack, that she aimed at Maka. As she caught the attack with Soul, he played one droning chord,
"Kid."
As Zelena was distracted, the reaper hit her with Death Canon. Before the smoke cleared, another chord,
"Black Star,"
Black Star delivered a sizable blow with enchanted sword mode. Zelena was flung back, but charged forward almost immediately, the blast throwing Kid and BlackStar.
I heard another chord,
"Your turn, Y/N," Soul said with more affection in his voice than the last two. It made me smile,
"On it, babe."
"Okay, stay professional you, two," Maka said.
Zelena was gearing up for another attack, but I had cocked Ruby and fired, the slug ripping through her stomach. Then Soul played his last chord,
"Let's finish this, Maka."
"Right. SOUL RESONANCE! WITCH HUNTER!"
Soul's blade glowed, large and multicolored. Maka sliced through Zelena easily and she exploded into black smoke until only her soul remained, floating there in the middle of us.
"We all okay?" Kid asked.
"Yeah," said Black Star, "Who gets her soul?"
"I think Soul should," Liz said, sounding resigned.
The others agreed, and Soul turned his upper body human and swallowed Zelenas soul. Everyone turned fully back into their human forms and Ruby and Soul each put an arm around Maka and I respectively and helped us walk away.
