No Ones POV:
They arrived at the ski resort the next day. The guys almost immediately went to hit the slopes upon checking in. Tsubaki, Ruby, and the Thompsons went to check out the gift shop and Maka and Y/N went to the lounge. Once they had settled in a pair of armchairs by the fire with their books, Y/N asked,
                 "Are you still seeing Julius?"
"Yeah, I don't know if it's going to work out though," she shrugged.
                 "How come?"
"He's kind of an arrogant dick," Maka hesitated for a few beats, reading the same sentence over and over, before asking, slowly,  "So you and Soul are a couple now?"
"Ah, no," Y/N laughed, but the sound was abrasive to Maka, "We're just...friends with benefits I guess."
                 "Oh..."
"Why do you ask? You don't..."
Her head shot up, "Ew, no, he's like my brother! You're just both my friends and I want you to be happy. But I also don't know what it would do to our whole friend group if you two started dating."
"We'll keep it lowkey, but I'm already in the same friend group as my ex so how much weirder could it get,"
This time, Maka laughed easily with her. I'm being silly. Y/N is cool about these things...but I can tell that Soul likes her. How long will they just stay friends with benefits?
"Well, let me know if you need any tips on handling him,"
At that moment, Soul came up behind Y/N and leaned his forearms on the back of her chair, "Hey, girls."
"Hey," Y/N turned her head and gently pulled his mouth down to hers, kissing him deeply while Maka sat there awkwardly. When she finally pulled away, she met Makas eyes and licked her lips, "I think I can handle him."
Now Maka had no idea how to interpret that. She didn't have time to consider it, as Soul straightened up, looking just as confused as her, but more dazed,
"There some great fresh powder out there," (I'm sorry, I know nothing about winter sports lol) "I can teach you tomorrow if you want."
"Maybe," Y/N said, "I was going to go tubing with Maka and Tsubaki."
"Soul's teaching you how to snowboard?" Maka asked.
"Yeah, I'm prepared to look totally stupid,"
"Come on, guys, let's grab dinner. IM STARVING!" Black Star cried, from behind Soul, still dripping wet from the "powder."

My POV:
Reading by the fire with Maka, having "girl talk," then a delicious warm meal with a view of the mountain? Perfect.
The way Soul was staring at me across the table? Excruciating.
"I'm gonna hit the sack," he said apruptly, standing up.
              "Already?" Liz asked.
"Yeah, I'm beat," he stretched and yawned, and I hoped I was the only one who could tell it was fake.
After we all said good night and he left, it became harder to sit still. I forced myself not to fidget and count five minutes. Then I stood up, scraping my chair back loudly.
             "I'm callin' it,"
"WHAT?" Black Star cried, "COME ON, Y/N!"
But the girls had caught on. "Okay, have a good night," Ruby said.
"You guys too. See you tomorrow,"
             "Night, Y/N,"
I forced myself not to run to Souls room. My heart was pounding in my ears by the time I found myself in front of his door. I rapped rhythmically, and the door popped open almost immediately, and a hand shot out and pulled me in. Soul slammed the door and pushed me up against it, kissing me hard. He gently nibbled on my lips with his sharp teeth, before crashing his tongue against mine, our hips pressed together.
"You finally got here," he grumbled, pulling me into bed.
"I had to wait so we weren't suspicious. Every second was agony,"
"Why wait? They all know," he said, moving to kiss my neck.
"Yeah, but it's gross if they know know. I told Maka we'd keep it low key,"
"Please don't mention Maka," he snapped, pulling me back into a sitting position to strip off my shirt.
"Sorry—Hey, you got the fire lit!"
"Sets the mood, right?" he asked, fumbling with my bra.
               "Yeah—you getting that?"
               "No, help me please."

Soon it was just the crackling of the fireplace—which was now making it swelteringly hot in here—and the sound of Souls breathing. I propped myself up on one elbow and looked down at him, "Can I ask you something?"
             "Yeah, shoot,"
"How'd you get this?" I traced the giant scar running from his right shoulder to his left hip.
             "Oh, you noticed that?"
             "Kinda hard to miss,"
He sat up a little, "Well, it's not a fun story. Me and Maka were in a fight back when we were in school, and I jumped in the way of a giant sword to save her."
"Really? That was really brave of you,"
He shrugged, "It's not like all that. A weapons job is to protect his meister."
I laid back down on my back and stared at the ceiling, "I never totally understood that. I mean, you say it so casually. I can't imagine being close to prepared to give up my life for someone—as mean as that sounds."
"I don't think that sounds mean. You have a lot to deal with as a meister. It's the least we weapons can do to protect you guys,"
             "So you never get jealous?"
"Hell yeah I get jealous! I've had times where I felt so damn useless, more back at school than now—you know, Death Scythe and all," he sat up and started putting some clothes on, "Do you get jealous?"
"Sometimes," I turned away from him and put on my shirt and panties and rolled myself back into the sheets, "I know it's so much more than this, but sometimes I just think it'd be nice to sit back and let someone else do the strategizing, let someone else take the blame."
Soul laid back down next to me, "You're right, it is a lot more than that."
"I know," I rolled onto my side and closed my eyes, thinking about how easily we talked about this stuff. Neither of us were an open book in the least usually.
Must be the hormones or something.

The next day, I left Soul in bed and got breakfast with the girls. I was immediately met with giggles that were halted by Ruby clearing her throat,
            "Morning, Y/N. How'd you sleep?"
I sat down more gracefully than I felt, "Really good. You?"
            I walked right into it.
"Fine. But I have to say I was worried about you. You didn't come back to our room. I wonder...where you slept."
They burst into giggles again. I shook my head, "Okay, okay. It's very funny, but let's be adults here. Yes, I slept with Soul last night."
Tsubacki ceased her giggling long enough to say sincerely, "I'm happy for you guys."
           "Thank you,"
"Hey, I'm happy for you too. You really needed to get laid,"
            "Shut up, Liz,"
The sisters and Ruby left to meet up with the guys on the slopes, and Maka, Tsubacki, and I took off to the tubing hill. Then, after lunch I marched myself over to the locker rooms where Soul was waiting holding two snowboards,
            "Class is in session."

Soul was a relatively patient and  thorough teacher, more so than I would've ever guessed. He didn't have any qualms though about laughing at me when I'd fall on my ass though of course.
So by the time I headed back to my room to get ready for supper I was sore, numb in my fingers, toes, and nose, but feeling like I could fly every time I thought about Soul yelling,
          "Good! Great! Awesome!"
when I finally successfully coasted down the bunny hill by myself. I was so wrapped up in my feelings I barely noticed Kid passing me in the hall.
          "Hey,"
"Hey," I said, breathlessly, almost speeding straight past him.
"I heard Souls giving you snowboarding lessons,"
           "Yeah, he's a good teacher,"
"That so?" only now did I notice the bite in his tone.
"Yeah, well, see you at supper," I said, awkwardly, and continued to pass him.
            "Y/N, listen..."
            I stopped again.
"I know you're sleeping with Soul just to make me jealous."
