I watch as the raindrops roll off the tip of the strands of my hair that fell over my eyes.

I bring the cigarette to my lips, taking a drag and slowly blowing it into the cold air. I tilt my head back and let the rain fall over my face, knowing that I'm definitely going to get sick after this.

But I didn't care, not one bit.

I close my eyes, taking another drag. I don't know how long I've been in this spot for. Hell, I don't even know how long I've been gone for. I don't know what day it is or what time it is.

I broke my phone a while ago after getting jumped by some idiots who wanted to rob me. I let them, it's not like I had anything on me.

After I left I drove to the other side of town and left my car somewhere. I've been walking around ever since, visiting old places from my childhood.

I went to the old rundown apartment Kammy and I use to live. I don't know why, that place held nothing but bad memories of my old folks.

There was a small family of four there, and they truly looked happy. After winning my fight the same night I went back to that apartment the next morning and handed them the cash prize, they were so grateful that it brought a smile to my face.

I went to the old park I would go to when I would get kicked out for the night for whatever reason. I would sit on the swings for the entire time, not getting a wink of sleep.

I knew how bad this side of town was, and it was even worse back then. I would hear gunshots, screaming, or arguing throughout the night. When I hear it close by I would hide under the slide, hoping I wouldn't be seen.

I don't know how I survived that long until the police showed up to arrest them and put Kammy and I in foster care. I guess I was just that lucky.

I don't know where my parents are. They could be dead or still rotting in jail for all I care. I never tried to look for them...until now. I don't know why, I just want to see them. Not talk to them or anything...Just see them.

Are they living their lives happily knowing what they put Kammy and I through? Did they start an another family? Are they still the same? I would know from just one look from them.

I tilt my head to the side, resting it against the rusty gate with my back against a brick wall. I was currently sitting in an alleyway. Trash littered everywhere as well as ripped up dirty clothes. I slowly blink, bringing the cigarette to my lips once more.

I wonder how everyone is doing without me. I hope they're finally happy.

I hear footsteps approaching and ignore it. If it's another homeless drug addict coming to pick up a fight, they can go ahead and get their few runs in. I won't stop them.

"Kayson," A familiar voice grumbled. Hm, I haven't heard my name be said in a hot minute.

I open my eyes and was met with a pair of dark chocolate ones. I simply stared at him and he held a hand out to me.
