Cara walked down stairs, her patterned pajama shorts swaying against her hips. Into the kitchen grabbing a banana, seeing her dad that was also in the kitchen drinking coffee before work. "Hey, do you mind if I go into town for a little bit, i'm going to meet up with Heather, Nat, and Bishop?" She asked as he took to the placing it in the sink as it was empty. "Yeah sure, just don't do anything stupid and be home for dinner" He said before walking out of the kitchen- leaving the house to go to work. She grabbed a glass of water before walking back upstairs, some soft monkey slippers on her feet as she trudged back to her room.
She walked to her bathroom, deciding she should take a shower seeing as she hadn't last night, being to tired after the party. She pushed play on her favorite playlist, titled 'the firecracker', turning on the shower, boyfriend by Ariana Grande playing through the bathroom under the sound of the water. She sung a long quietly as she got into the shower closing the glass door behind her.
She got out of the shower, the big mirror fogged. She put on a red tank top and a pair of jean shorts, choosing a more simple look. She put on lotion, layering sunscreen then perfume. Putting her hair in two braids, grabbing her phone, and walking back to her room. She put on some simple jewelry, and put on a pair of red high top Converses.
She walked outside grabbing her yellow bike, throwing her phone and wallet into the woven basket on the front. Cara rode her bike through the street and into town till she finally saw the three she was looking for. She slowed down a little, saying "Hey fam" as they turned around, "hi" "hey" "hey firecracker" the three greeted.
"So what's going on what was so urgent" Cara asked, riding behind them slowly. "Heather got fired" Bishop said for her, "But you're the only-" Cara was quickly cut off by them saying "Exactly" "Yep" and "who ever actually does anything mhm". Cara was a little taken aback by them saying these things loudly, a laugh coming from her after.
"Shit, Heather I'm sorry" Cara said sympathetically, Heather just shrugging, "Do you want me to poison him?" Natalie asked taking heather hand as they continued to walk. "You know, as much as that excites me, I do not know how we'd pull that off." Heather said as they turned into a little paved area that had a snack bar at the front. "Well I do refill his prescriptions." Nat said earning a small laugh from Cara.
She hopped off her bike, leaning it against the small brick building. "That's kind of dark" Heather replied, "yeah you know you scare me sometimes Nat" Cara said, making both the girls chuckle. "Hey remind me never to get on her bad side" Cara laughed looking over at Heather.
Natalie looked between the two girls saying "Well when I win Panic we don't have to worry about jobs." Heather sighed, looking at Bishop and Cara. "What did I tell you guys, right? She's serious" She said gesturing to Natalie. "You guys should be rooting for me." She said, "Yeah guys, and if she doesn't win then I will and you all can live in my beach house" Cara said with a shrug, knowing she had a chance, Natalie nodded in agreement.
"People died last year" Heather said bringin the mood down a little. As the three girls walked a little further away; leaving Bishop to order for them at the snack bar. "I mean, people die in bathtubs and in car accidents." Nat says with a shrug, 'she does have a point' Cara thought to herself. "Oh especially when they are walking blindfolded across a highway. I can't lose you two" Heather said taking Cara hand as she spoke looking at the girls.
"Hey, you couldn't get rid of us if you tried" Natalie said with a laugh, "Yeah, either way i'm coming back to haunt you guys as a ghost" Cara joked looking at Heather sincerely. Bishop came back to the group, handing each of them their drink that they ordered Cara took a sip of her lemonade, "Exactly you know, besides who is going to keep me grounded when I'm a rich and famous actress" Natalie remarked, looking at the three with a smiley laugh.
"Oh I can think of three people" Bishop said, looking at the girls. "All right, so lets recap." Heather said using her fingers to point at each of them. "You are moving to Hollywood. You are going to college. You are going to move to some island in the Mediterranean, with the help of your crazy rich parents" She stated and Cara rolled her eyes playfully knowing it was true. "And I am Just going live here forever" Heather finished.
"Are you saying you're gonna miss us? Is that what this is?" Bishop said, sarcastically with a smile. "What I'm saying is that you three losers are abandoning me." Heather replied, as the three started walking, Cara ran to get her bike hurrying after them as they walked down the sidewalk.
The four spent the rest of the day walking around town, till Cara saw the time. '4:47' the screen read, a picture of her brown Yorkshire Terrier behind the white letters. "hey I'm gonna head home but, I'll see you guys later" They all said goodbye and Cara yelled "Love you" hearing them say it back.
She rode home, the ride was pretty short as it was a small town. She parked her bike in the driveway leaving it alone knowing no one cared enough to take it, not that they would even try as her father was one of the most powerful people in the town; working as some kind of ceo of a big business that Cara didn't care to learn more about.
Cara walked into her house seeing her baby, Apollo greeting her at the door the sound of skittering nails against the hardwood after the door closed. She picked up the small dog walking to the living room seeing her mother on the couch watching Titanic.
"Hey I'm home" Cara mumbled to her mother "oh hey sweetie you wanna watch with me?" The girls mother said gesturing to the screen. Cara thought about for a second before saying "sure but, I'm gonna change I'll be back in a couple minutes" She turned around and walked up the stairs Apollo still in her arms.
She walked into her room setting the dog on her queen sized bed grabbing a red college sweatshirt with the word 'brown' across the upper chest- a sweatshirt her mother gave her. A pair of comfy gray sweats pants going under, she left her hair in the braids not wanting to deal with the curls right now.
She grabbed her monkey slippers and put on her feet after replacing her dirty socks with new fluffy ones. She grabbed Apollo and put her phone in her pocket walking back down stairs. Cara walked into the living room, sitting on the couch with a soft blanket as she and her mother finished the movie.
Once the credits rolled, Cara looked over to see her mother in tears. She couldn't help but giggle, "hey, don't laugh that was a sad movie" Mallory said in defense through her tears. "I'm sorry, I mean it is a sad movie but, why are you crying it wasn't that sad" Cara laughed, "okay well not ever one is a heartless monster like you" The older woman said jokingly, drying her tears with a tissue.
"Wow calling your only daughter a heartless monster how rude" Cara said sarcastically, her mother lightly throwing the tissue box at her. Making Cara laugh her mother soon joining in.
Caleb walked into the room confused "oh god, what's going on" he said raising his eyebrow at the two. "Oh nothing just mom being mother of the year" Cara said jokingly as her mom lightly hit her leg, then shushing her. "We were just about to watch Breakfast at Tiffany's, do you wanna join?"
The boy shrugged saying "sure" walking over to sit on the large couch as well, she pushed play on the movie the opening credits playing. The three continued to watch a couple more movies each taking turns picking them, the evening turning into an impromptu movie night and they all ended up falling asleep leaving the father confused seeing his wife and kids fast asleep on the couch with a died out fire in the fire place and the credits of Pretty woman on the tv.
