The warm sunny day turned to a dark cool night and the girls had heard from Bishop that another clue was spray painted at the Granary. They decoded the message and found out that they needed to go to the Granary again that night for the challenge. Cara sent Dodge a dm telling him about what they found. She wore a yellow top with some denim shorts and sat in the car wondering what the challenge could've been.
They drove over to there to see the area was now light up with bright lights showing the beam that was between to platforms about 40 feet high. A crowd of people standing around waiting for some sort of info to announced. The four walked into the crowd finding somewhere to stand as Diggins and Summer got on top of a truck with a gold trophy and a megaphone.
Digigins was shouting some stuff to get the crowd more excited and as Cara looked around trying to get more information even if she had a suspicion of what the next challenge was; she saw Dodge standing by himself, arms crossed over his broad chest. Cara turned back to her friends saying a quick "Okay I'll be right back and good luck you two" crossing her fingers before she walked over to Dodge.
"have you considered my offer Princess?" Cara asked glancing up at the brunet boy. "yeah, and i think your extensive knowledge of the game could be.." hearing him pause she said "yeah?" knowing he was most likely gonna compliment her thorough study of the game. "Helpful" Dodge said like it was something he could never admit. "wow you know I'm honored truly to be complimented by the mayor of mysterious monochrome cowboy land" Cara said playfully, placing a hand over her heart.
Cara seemed to remember where they were, in a little more serious tone she said "so how's your balance?" glancing up and the connected towers before looking back over to Dodge. With a small shrug he said "I mean I've never done this before crazy i know but, i mean my balance is pretty good i think" Cara listened to his words mumbling "God why is he good at everything" though he seemed to hear it "what?" he said with a small smirk "hm?" Cara said acting confused.
"So um Natalie said that we are probably gonna have to cross that so you better hope your balance is damn near perfection." She spoke telling Dodge all the information she had. "We have been partners for one minute and you are already fraternizing with the enemy. Unbelievable" Dodge said mock shock coating his face. "No no it's just strategy" Cara said quickly trying to 'plead her case' "I would never fraternize" she continued before she started to laugh, Dodge soon joining in.
The crowd continue to cheer and Dodge and Cara laughter had died down and she hesitantly pulled her gaze away from Dodge as they heard Diggins say, "All right, boy and girls, chicks and dicks, Ray, welcome to challenge numero dos, Walk the plank" the words cause Cara and Dodge to glance at each other a sort of quick silent conversation between the two that mostly consisted of Cara said "I was right." with her eyes.
Everyone cheered and clapped as Diggins continued "And reminder we have 23 players in the competition. All players receive 100 points for joining except for the firecracker and Dodge Mason who both get an extra 25" which caused some booing which Cara thought was mean but ignored it. "and Heather Nill who gets an extra 50 points and immunity in a challenge of her choice." sparking cheering in the crowd.
"Helping me keep records is the ravishing Summer Calvo" Diggins announced. Cara cheered along with the crowd for the first time that night. "Tonight, points work by deduction. The slower you are, more points you lose." Summer held up a timer it making a faint beeping sound Cara could barely hear. "You got 90 seconds to cross before you are in the red and out of the game." He explained and Cara tried to memorize every word.
"And now, in no particular order" Diggins said, "Drumroll please" Summer asked to create some suspense. Having a idea Cara quickly said to Dodge "I have a really smart or really stupid idea" before she ran over to the make shift stage. She stopped them from pulling a name and she whispered something to Diggins and Summer they both looked confused but, Diggins announced "Well it looks like we've got a volunteer" Causing some to lightly gasp or cheer.
She turned around catching a glance of Dodge's face seemingly asking if she was crazy. Cara started her way over to the ladder. Climbing up slowly lightly jumping at each creak which just made her laugh as she was never this jumpy.
Once she had made it to the top she looked down at Diggins and Summer waiting for the to tell her when to go. She heard DIggin say something but, tuned him out, waiting to hear "Go!" when she slowly but confidently began walking across the rickety beam. "One foot in front of the other." she told herself keeping her arms out to help her balance. She moved precissly and before she new it she was on the other side she let out a breath of relief hearing the cheering of the crowd brought her back to reality.
She climbed down the ladder her heart pumping, she felt shaky but, not from fear because of adrenaline. She walked back over the crowd "give it up for Cara she really deserves that title of firecracker." Diggins yelled, making Cara giggle as she did a little bow. Though, she was oblivious of the brunet boy who had been admiring her from afar with admiration, he was pulled out of his trance when Cara had strolled back over to him.
