Tonight, there was this big party to celebrate, graduation. Cara was getting ready, putting her hair in a curly bun, two front pieces pulled out to frame her face. She had on a white lace tank top with small matching flower embroidery and a blue jean skirt under. She had on light green and white New Balance 550's on. She adorned the outfit with gold earrings, and a gold necklace that had little engraving of the little dipper.
She grabbed her phone, slipping into her back pocket. walking down stairs seeing her mom in the kitchen, blasting Taylor Swift, dancing around the expensive kitchen, swinging her head around singing into a wooden spoon. Cara rolled her eyes seeing the drunk woman, "Hey mom" Cara said loudly over the music interrupting her mom's personal concert. "Oh hey honey" she said, almost yelling before pausing the music; looking over at Cara hearing her words, catching her breath, her hair slightly messy.
"I'm gonna head to that party, I was telling you about" Cara says, watching her mom take another drink from the crystal glass filled with a maroon wine. "Yeah okay have fun. um you know the rules" She says before turning back on the loud music, she turned around starting to walk out the door.
"hey where are you going" Cara heard internally groaning, not wanting to be late. She turned to see her dad walking into the entry way, wearing pajama pants and a shirt that said 'I'm the cool dad you've been hearing about'. "I'm going to that party I was talking about earlier." she says, "You were talking about a party?" The man asked confused trying to rethink the earlier conversation. "Sorry I don't really listen when you talk" He said jokingly, "I mean now that you graduated you don't have anymore good drama to tell me about so why listen." He says nonchalantly, his tone still playful.
Cara looked at her dad blankly before saying "Okay, um can I go now or" the last part trailing off into silence. "okay yes but, remember, No drinking. No drugs, No kissing, no tattoos, no piercings, no ritual animal slaughters of any kind." He says, "Did you just quote 10 things i hate about you?" Cara said uninterested just wanting to leave. "That was a test. You passed, barely. lose the attitude" Vincent said quickly referencing that fact that she had seen '10 things I hate about you' before yelling into the kitchen "We raised her right Mal'" a loud "WHOO" came from her mother 'shake it off' playing loudly behind her.
"Okay who's the dd?" Her dad said looking back at her, "the what?" Cara asked, "designated driver, come on catch up sister" He said like it was the most obvious thing ever. The younger girl shaking her head with a slight chuckle, "Nat" she said, "mhm that Natalie girl huh? okay, okay" Vincent said putting his finger to his chin in thought. "Dad" Cara groaned, "God, okay go" he said mocking her annoyed tone. "Go, get away, get out of here, scram, skedaddle, Have fun. Please don't get hurt your mother would kill me" he said quickly, laughing as he walked back into the kitchen. Cara quickly opened the door back up quickly yelling "you're not the cool dad, sorry. bye. love you" before shutting the door again.
Cara quickly ran down the drive way, seeing Nat's car. When she got in she quickly said "I'm sorry, I'm sorry" knowing that they were waiting on her. "What took you so long" Heather asked, looking back at me from the front passenger seat. "My dad was interrogating me, and quoting a movie at me" Cara said confused at her own words as well. Seeing Natalie's matching confused face from the driver's seat. "I don't really know either" She says to the girl before buckling her seat belt, as the girl turned back around pulling out of her driveway.
They walked into the party, Heater and Bishop splitting off somewhere, as they walked away "Okay there is definitely something going on there, right?" Cara said the words almost spilling from her mouth. These words made Natalie look at her wide eyed "Oh my god right like what was going on earlier" She said with a laugh "Exactly like the" Cara put her hand to Nat's forehead "Perfect lets make out like that was a little more than friendly if you ask me" Cara said laughing as her and Natalie approached a table with a bunch of different glass bottles.
After they got two cups they walked around hand in hand trying to find the 'two love birds' as they were now calling the pair of Heather and Bishop.
When they finally spotted them, seeing that asshole Ray Hall walking away from them Cara rolled her eyes knowing he was being his asshole self. The two love birds looked to be toasting to something when Cara and Nat walked over. Natalie sat in a chair next to them while Cara leaned on the arm rest not seeing another chair.
"Oohh what did we miss?" Natalie asked, as Bishop replied with "Oh, we're-we're toasting to a future free of Ray Hall." Natalie made a disgusted noise saying the other three's thought for them. "That guy sucks." She said after taking a drink of her soda, "Remember?" She asked Heather turning towards her more, "Remember when you puked on the eighth grade field trip the one that happened like two weeks after Cara moved here?" Natalie asked making Heather and Bishop groan thinking of the gross memory.
"An he spread a rumor Heather was pregnant" She continued, Heather mumbled a quick "yeah" Bishop pointed back to Natalie, Cara's head turning back to Natalie following the conversation like she was watching tennis. "And then you told everyone that he had chlamydia." Bishop said. Cara could see Nat's proud face then she turned to the two girls saying "No one messes with my girls." As she leaned into Cara giving her somewhat of a side hug, taking Heather's face in her hand Heather doing the same to her.
"To revenge." Bishop said raising his plastic cup, "to chlamydia" Natalie said, everyone quickly putting their cup down Heather saying "Oh no, I'm not toasting to that" Cara joined in saying "yeahh no." Natalie still held her can high then taking a drink, before Natalie said "Okay okay I got one." Everyone turned to her, seeing her grab her bag from the ground opening on her lap taking out a rolled piece of paper, Cara assumed it was her diploma and when she unrolled it she was right.
"You-you brought your diploma" Bishop said unbelievably, "of course" Nat said. "Weird move" Heather said, Cara making sounds of agreement "Yeah I don't know it that was your smartest move Nat" She said trying to put it as nice as possible. "Ta-da" Natalie said presenting it to them with a bright smile. Before tossing it in the fire that was burning in front of them. "Oh no okay Nat that was definitely not your smartest move" Cara said looking at her in shock.
"What are you doing" Heather asked clearly disappointed as well, "See? It's a toast" Nat said cheerfully as if she hadn't through her diploma into a fire. "Natalie" Heather said leaning her head back in annoyance. "What?" She asked simply before continuing with "it doesn't matter because I'm gonna win PANIC" she said, last part with a sing songy voice poking Heather's shoulder.
She suddenly said "Oh, I love this song. Come on Come on." She threw her hands up standing with Cara right behind her wanting to dance too "Get up, Heather." She says reaching her hands out for her. "No. maybe later" Heather said, "No now" Natalie said yanking her arm "Come on, don't be a party pooper Heather" Cara said tauntingly. Bishop joining in grabbing her other arm and eventually just picking her up as the three walked her to the make shift dance floor.
The three starting dancing and jumping around together Heather finally giving in. They continue to dance and when Cara saw Bishop dip Heather as they waltz around the dance floor. She gave Natalie a knowing smirk, which she quickly returned. Before they went back to dancing and laughing. The rest of the night was just spent like this, the night ended with Cara walking up her drive way at 1 am, sore feet, and a horrible head ache when she woke up.
