Diggins continued to explain the rules, that everyone had heard at least twice now. "Remember, kids, you want to go out and down into the swimming hole." He used his finger to point in each direction. "You miss it and it's gonna be the rocks that break your fall. Take the leap from the lookout and grab yourself 100 points, courtesy of this year's friendly judges, whoever they may be." The boy said through the megaphone with a smile.
"Let the games begin" He yelled as the crowd again cheered, Cara clapping and cheering along with her peers and some soon to be enemies in this game. "That's our cue" Natalie said taking off her shirt Cara following suit though going a little faster with anticipation.
Cara started to make her way to the little stand to get a number and a flare from Summer when she heard Bishop say to Natalie "You know I have the same suit." Making Cara laugh. Nat had said something else but, she didn't catch it. In the midst of trying to translate the fuzzy message she didn't see the taller boy till she looked up at him from the ground after slamming into him.
"Shit sorry" Cara said looking up at the brunette, he quickly reached down for her to take his hand. She placed her hand in his and he pulled her almost effortly. "Nah it's fine" He brushed off the rough encounter and started to walk away not before saying "oh and goodluck firecracker" He said, with a small wink walking away, not giving her a chance to say it back.
Cara shook her head free of the thoughts of Dodge, though it couldn't stop her mind from falling back to the way his rough callused hands felt against her own. The way his blue eyes shined with the small bit of brown, his dark pupils staring back into hers. The way his broad chest and toned lower abs, supported his strong shoulders.
The girl shook her head again this time the act succeeded in getting rid of the thoughts, though they were sure to come back later that evening as she lied in bed. Cara pulled herself back to reality continuing to walk to the small table that had a small gold trophy and that same girl from earlier.
"Hey Cara" The girl said, Cara stuck her hand out for her to write her number "You're 4 take a flare, good luck firecracker" Summer said letting go of her hand, "Thanks" Cara grabbing a flare waiting to light it till it was her turn.
She turned when she heard, "Contestant number one, announce yourself." Diggins said. She say Ray standing from the look out, "You know my name, Diggins" Ray yelled, "your mom screams it every night" Cara couldn't help but roll eyes at the annoying boys' infuriating words. She could hear the some behind her laughing as she wondered why any one thought it was actually funny.
"Fuck yeah that's my boy" One of Ray's dumb friends yelled though, Cara didn't care to learn. "Okay" Diggins said this a slight chuckle trying to move on. Ray cut him off saying, "Ray Hall for the win" He did a front flip off the edge yelping with excitement as he jumped. Hitting the water, the water immediately going out as the big group cheered for him, Cara choosing to do a couple claps not really caring for the Hall brother.
"He said so I don't have to but I will anyway; the one and only Ray Hall is in" Diggins shouted more cheers coming from the crowd. The next to contestants went before it was finally Cara turn she turned to Bishop and Natalie mumbling "wish me luck." The said good luck as the girl turned around starting her way up the mountain lighting the red flare.
She continued up the cliff she got to the spot most would jump but as she looked over the ledge she felt a surge of confidence as it didn't even look that high. With the confidence and the can of beer she'd downed before her turn. She started walking to the High Point she looked over the ledge and then up at Devil's Drop an after decided she wasn't drunk enough she chose to stay at the High Point.
The action earning cheers from the crowd, Diggins reminded everyone that a jump from this height earned the player a 25-point bonus. But, a jump from Devil's Drop would earn you fifty extra points. After his explanation, he turned to Cara saying. "State your name contestant 4" though most already knew her form either her name or her nickname. "Finally" She muttered her volume loud enough the crowd could hear. She got laughs from the crowd and an playful eye roll from their host.
"Cara Levine-Anderson" She held the flare away from her body not wanting to burn herself. "okay firecracker let's see it" He said as the girl slowly started backing up. Before she pushed herself forward running and jump off the cliff with a loud cheering whoop before she hit the cool water.
She popped back from the water a wide grin her face as she walked out of the water. "Cara is in. With her 25-point bonus as well" She heard Diggins as her friend ran over to her handing a towel. "That was amazing" Nat said with a smile, Cara thanked her earning some praise from some others in the crowd. The girl's straight smile never leaving her face as they continued through the initial challenge.
