A K R I T I

After our memorable moments filled with heartfelt confessions and a sizzling kiss that left us both breathless, reality gently pulled us back to our responsibilities. The sweet interlude had to be set aside as the demands of work called us back. We were reminded of the important meeting scheduled for tomorrow morning, and the urgency of our tasks loomed large.

I exchanged a quick glance with Adi, both of us silently acknowledging the necessity of returning to our tasks. “Looks like we have to get back to work,” he said, trying to inject some lightness into the situation despite the mounting pressure.

I nodded, my expression resolute. “Yes, we need to complete the finance report so you can make the presentation. There’s no time to waste.”

We moved swiftly back to our respective tasks, the atmosphere shifting from intimate to industrious. The office, once filled with the echoes of our laughter and soft murmurs, now buzzed with the sounds of papers rustling and keyboards clicking. The transition was seamless, a testament to our ability to balance personal and professional lives, even in the face of intense emotions.

Here I am, seated in my cabin after the cleaners tidied up the mess created by my so-called loving boss. It felt surreal to be back in the quiet confines of my workspace, especially after the emotional whirlwind we had just experienced. The remnants of our intimate moments still lingered in the air, but now, focus was paramount.

In just two hours, I managed to complete the finance report, meticulously checking it twice to ensure every detail was accurate. The importance of this document couldn't be overstated; it was the backbone of the presentation Adi needed to create for our meeting. Each figure and note had to be perfect.

As I signed the end of the file with my red pen, a sense of accomplishment washed over me. The task was done, and done well. I leaned back in my chair for a moment, allowing myself a brief respite before the next phase of our preparation.

Yes, I have one pen that is my favourite. I use it to sign important documents. This pen holds immense power; with a single signature, it can make or break a business deal overnight. Such is the power of a CA's signature.

As the clock strikes 8 PM, I gather the completed file and head towards Adi's cabin to submit it so he can work further on the presentation. The office floor is eerily quiet, with everyone having left earlier. The silence adds a surreal touch to the evening, amplifying the significance of the task at hand.

I approach his cabin and, without knocking, step inside. My eyes immediately fall on the most handsome man in the world. Adi is seated at his desk, his white shirt with rolled-up sleeves highlighting his muscular arms. His glasses rest perfectly on his nose, giving him an intellectual yet rugged look. But his expression tells a different story; he looks a bit frustrated.

I move towards him, concerned. "Hey, what happened? Is everything okay?" I ask, my voice gentle yet probing.

He sighs deeply. "Yes, it's fine. I called my mom here from Patna. Joravar went to bring her, but my father is not allowing her to come," he says, his voice tinged with sadness.
