A K R I T I

We were lost in each other,
kissing passionately, when Adi's phone rang, breaking the stillness of our intimate moment. Without breaking the kiss, he shifted his lips to my neck, his breath warm against my skin, and answered the call, his voice a low murmur. "Hello?"

"Hello, Bhai. There's someone here who wants to meet you both. Should I send her in?" Priyanka's voice came through the speaker, clear and inquisitive.

It was hard to speak, each word catching in my throat as Adi's lips moved over my neck. "Who is she?" I asked, struggling to suppress a moan that threatened to escape.

"She is—oh wait, ma'am, you can't go in like that!" Priyanka's voice was cut off abruptly as the call disconnected.

Adi's lips found mine again, and I pulled him closer, deepening the kiss. I attacked his lips, sucking on his lower lip, which felt as soft as a petal, savoring the moment. We were so wrapped up in each other that the sudden loud sound of the door opening startled us.

"Mam, you can't enter like this!" Priyanka's urgent voice trailed in behind the intruder.

I turned my head and saw the girl who had burst in—none other than my best friend, Mona, a whirlwind of energy and determination. My heart sank. Mona was staring at us with wide eyes, taking in the scene of our entangled bodies. I felt a wave of awkwardness wash over me.

Adi quickly moved his face away from mine, his expression shifting to one of shock and fear as he faced Mona. She strode across the room with long, determined steps, her eyes blazing. She grabbed Adi by the collar, her grip firm and unyielding.

"How dare you, huh? You left her in the past and now you've come back for what? And why are you forcing her? Tell me!" she demanded, glaring at him with a fury that could have melted steel.

Adi's eyes widened, and I could see a mixture of fear and confusion in his expression. He raised his hands in a placating gesture, trying to defuse the situation. "Mona, it's not what it looks like. I swear, I would never force her. We were just—"

Mona cut him off, her grip tightening on his collar. "I don't care what you have to say. You hurt her once, and I'm not going to let you do it again. You better have a damn good explanation for this."

I could see the genuine fear in Adi's eyes, but I knew he wasn't the same person who had hurt me in the past. I took a deep breath and stepped between them, placing a hand on Mona's arm to calm her down. "Mona, please, it's not like that. Adi and I—well, things have changed. We're trying to work things out."

Mona's gaze shifted to me, her expression softening slightly as she searched my face for any sign of distress. "Are you sure, babe? Because if he's hurting you, I swear—"

I nodded, giving her a reassuring smile. "I'm sure. It's different now. I promise."

Mona's grip on Adi's collar loosened, and she finally released him, her shoulders relaxing a bit. "Alright, but I'm keeping an eye on you," she warned, pointing a finger at Adi. "You mess up, and you'll have to deal with me."

Adi nodded, relief flooding his face. "Understood."

The tension in the room began to dissipate as Mona stepped back, still eyeing Adi warily. I took a deep breath, grateful for her fierce loyalty, but also hopeful that she would see the changes in Adi and understand our situation.
