Summer and Arav's days always followed a familiar and comfortable routine. Each morning, they would go to college together, attending their classes diligently. During breaks, they would gather in the canteen with their close friends Prachi, Shubham, and Saurav, sharing stories, laughter, and snacks.
After college, Summer and Arav would head back to their homes. Often, they would alternate having dinner at each other's houses, enjoying the warm, home-cooked meals prepared by their families. Summer: Are you sure you'll be okay, Arav? I can stay and take care of you.
Arav: (Sniffling) No, Sammy. I'll be fine. You should go to college. Don’t miss out because of me.
Summer: (Sighing) Alright, if you insist. But call me if you need anything, okay?
Arav: (Smiling weakly) I will. Thanks, Sammy. Now go, or you'll be late.
[Summer heads to college and is sitting in the canteen alone. Sriya, a girl from his department, approaches him.]
Sriya: Hey, Summer, right? Mind if I sit next to you?
Summer: (Smiling) Sure, go ahead.
[Sriya sits down and they introduce themselves.]
Sriya: I'm Sriya, by the way. I’ve seen you around but never got a chance to talk.
Summer: Nice to meet you, Sriya. I'm Summer. How's your day going?
Sriya: Pretty good, actually. But it looks like you're missing your usual lunch buddies.
Summer: Yeah, my friend Arav is sick today, so I’m on my own.
Sriya: Oh no, that’s tough. Hope he feels better soon.
They start chatting, and Sriya's joyful and funny nature makes Summer feel comfortable.
Sriya: So, have you heard the one about the student who walked into a bar?
Summer: (Laughing) No, what happened?
Sriya: He said, "Ouch!"
[Both of them burst out laughing, the ice completely broken.]
Summer: (Smiling) You’re pretty funny, Sriya. I’m glad you came over.
Sriya: Same here. It’s always nice to make new friends. Maybe we can sit together more often.
Summer: I’d like that.
They continue talking and laughing, and Summer feels more at ease with Sriya's company.
