Days later, Chase and Kaycee had gotten a protection order against Tammy and they were hoping that was the end of all of it. Sadie seemed to slightly calm down knowing that but Chase and Kaycee could still sense the anxiety wasn't completely gone.
"You okay?" Kaycee asked as she looked up from the book that she was reading.
"Yeah," Sadie answered, keeping her nose in her own book across the room.
"Okay, then look at me and tell me that,"
"Mom," she sighed.
"I'm serious Sadie," she said, trying to make eye contact with her daughter.
"What?" She asked, looking up from her book this time.
"Be honest with me,"
"I am,"
"I don't think you are," Kaycee sighed, "our with it,"
Fine," Sadie sighed, "I'm just scared of her,"
"Tammy?"
"Yeah,"
"Dad and I won't let anything happen to you," she promised.
"How can you be so sure?"
"Because you are ours. You might not be our blood, but from that first night with us, you have been our child. And that means that we will do anything for you. Including protecting you. No matter what," she explained, without hesitating for one second.
Sadie just nodded and looked back at her book with a small smile.
Kaycee also smiled, going back to her novel as well while Addie took her afternoon nap and Chase was golfing with Ryan.

The house was quiet the next morning as Kaycee woke up. That only lasted for a few minutes before she heard Adeline start to whine and cry. Before she made it up the steps, the crying had stopped and all she heard was the laughter from Adeline.
She looked in to see Sadie sitting on the floor with her now baby sister, playing with her little bears with her. She quickly got her phone and started recording the 2 of them, loving the relationship that Adeline had with Sadie. Since she'd been living with them, Adeline had grown extremely close.
She went back to their bedroom and sat on the bed again, looking at the video one more time.
"What are you doing?" Chase asked as he rolled over to face her side.
"Look at this video," she smiled as she showed Chase the short video of their 2 daughters.
"They're cute," he chuckled, "She loves Addie so much,"
"I know. It's pretty adorable if you ask me,"
"Wanna make bacon and eggs for us?"
"I can," she chuckled, even though he was perfectly capable. "You know that you can too,"
"You make them with so much love though. I can't replicate that," Chase grinned, knowing he'd just get an eye roll from his wife.
"You can mix the pancake mix and water. Addie could probably do it," she grinned, smiling as she left the room.
It was the last few days before volleyball clinics started and she would be scouting for tryouts. She knew Sadie and Emily but anyone else was a mystery with 5 of their team graduating out the previous year, she felt as if it would be a whole new team.
"Mom!" She heard Sadie call from the steps as she came downstairs in her volleyball shirt and shorts.
"Yeah?"
"Volleyball starts today?"
"Next week,"
"Today, not next week. Check your texts,"
"What? Maddy texted me that it was next-"She stopped as she checked her phone and realized volleyball did in fact start that day. "Crap. Get your bag ready,"
"It is. I just have to eat. Do we have the good protein bars?"
"No, all we have are the quest ones,"
"How does dad eat those? They taste like chewy chalk," she asked, chuckling slightly.
"He's your dad. That's an answer enough,"
"Heard that," Chase said as he entered the room.
"You were meant to," she grinned, looking over her shoulder, "When does baseball start?"
"Next week," he said as he poured himself a cup of coffee. "Ryan sent it in the group when we were trying to figure it out for the babies,"
"That's where I got mixed up," she nodded.
"Can she just go to daycare?" Sadie asked, looking up from the pancake she was eating.
"I don't think so yet. I can call but no guarantees,"
"I'll call right now," Chase nodded, knowing that Kaycee had enough on her plate.
"Thank you," she nodded, "If not, can you stay home with her?"
"I can for a little bit,"
"Okay. We can figure that out when we get to the rest of that,"
