2 hours earlier, at 7:30 AM

Killua was taking his little sister Alluka to school. She had been looking forward to it all day, even dreaming about how great it would be. Killua barely listened, lost in his own thoughts, wondering if Gon hated him now or if Illumi was nearby. He was also unsure about Alluka—did she really like him, or was she just pretending? Because of this uncertainty, Killua didn't often discuss his problems with Alluka or tell her about them at all. He thought it would annoy her or make her think he was weak, so he preferred to keep everything to himself.

Killua and Alluka finally arrived; the school was really big.

"Wow, look at that, big brother! The school looks so amazing and it's so big!" Alluka said excitedly

"Wow, look at that, big brother! The school looks so amazing and it's so big!" Alluka said excitedly. She quickly began hugging Killua because she wanted to go in right away, but she couldn't do it without one last hug.

Killua hugged her back, but then a woman who looked like a teacher approached them. She said she would take Alluka to her class and discussed some important information with Killua, such as when the school day ended and what subjects would be taught. "Please inform your parents," said the lady, and they started to walk away.

"See you soon, big brother!" Alluka shouted.

Killua waved to her and started to leave, but Alluka ran back to him and hugged him again. "I will miss you, big brother," she said sweetly.

Killua smiled and hugged her once more.

Killua: "Take care of yourself, Alluka

Killua: "Take care of yourself, Alluka. If anyone bothers you, let me know and I'll take care of them."

Alluka nodded in the hug while Killua gently patted her head. After a moment, he stopped, and Alluka ran back to the teacher.

"Byeee!!!" Alluka shouted at the end, and with that, Killua left and made his way to the Hunter Association.

Killua took the subway to get there. Once on the subway, he sat down and relaxed a bit, but not for long. The subway was almost empty; there were only six other people, and none of them were moving much. They were just staring dreamily downwards. Killua noticed this and felt uneasy. Sometimes they would glance at him briefly and then quickly look away. They really looked strange.

Some of the people on the subway looked really strange, which gave Killua a queasy feeling in his stomach. Suddenly, out of nowhere, his phone rang. Killua checked the number, but it was unknown. Still, Killua answered. Who else would be calling him?

Killua: Hello? Who's there?

Illumi: Kill, how's my little brother doing?

Killua felt a chill run down his spine upon hearing his brother's voice. Killua didn't want to respond anymore; he was too scared. He started shaking and sweating. He had to be careful not to release his electricity unexpectedly again.

Illumi: Kill? Kill? Kill?

Killua: What the hell do you want?

Illumi: Can't a brother just talk to his little brother and ask how he's doing?

Killua heard Illumi laughing loudly on the call, which scared him but also made him angry.

Killua: Stop playing games. What do you want from me?

Illumi: Like I said, just asking how you're doing.

Killua: STOP THIS SHIT. WHAT DO YOU WANT TO SAY BEFORE—

Illumi: If I were you, I'd be quiet, lest Alluka dies. She just had a nice first day at school.

Killua immediately fell silent and stared anxiously at his phone. He wondered how Illumi knew that. Did he have a spy again?

Killua: ... you?

Illumi: Kill, Kill, Kill. Do you even realize the stupid things you're doing? Hahaha, you don't want to listen to me. By the way, how's Gon? You saved him, didn't you? Haha.

Killua: You asshole, say—

Hangs up.

Illumi hung up, leaving Killua infuriated. He immediately wanted to call Alluka, but she didn't have a phone. Before Killua could think further, his station arrived, and he had to get off. He exited, and the people inside still looked odd.

Killua was on the brink of losing his temper again. He found a corner, punched the wall, creating a sizable hole. Now out of the subway, Killua emerged above ground near the Hunter Association. He made his way there and went inside.
