After Gon and Killua part ways following the events where Alluka (or Nanika) heals Gon, they each go on different paths. Gon returns to his aunt Mito, as losing his Nen prevents him from embarking on further dangerous adventures. Despite this, his f...
It was morning, and Gon was still frustrated that he wasn't allowed to go to the Hunter Association. Gon no longer left his room; he was so angry, he wanted to go there so badly, but he simply wasn't allowed. With nothing else to do, Gon picked up his phone and texted Killua. He wrote things like, "Hey Killua, how are you? Are you doing well? How's Alluka? Are you getting some sleep? Well, maybe later, have a nice day." Sometimes he even called him, but Killua never answered anyway. Gon thought to himself, "I wonder if he's okay. Well, what can you do?"
POV Mito
Mito was just clearing away breakfast, still worried about Gon. She knew how much Gon loved the world out there the adventures, the fresh air, and discovering new things. But she also had to consider the negative aspects. Anything could happen to him. The last time was already bad enough; what if it got even worse? she thought anxiously.
Grandma said, "Mito, I think it might be better to let Gon go to the Hunter Association for a few adventures." When Mito heard this, she looked at her angrily. "You too? Listen, Gon has only been back for a few months and you're saying we should send him away again? Terrible things could happen, like last time he almost died!" Mito shouted.
Grandma replied, "I know, but look, he's still alive. Gon has many friends and colleagues who care about him. You know they did everything they could to save him. They wouldn't just let him die. Without them, he wouldn't be here. So, Mito, let go."
"Absolutely not!" she shouted back.
With his keen hearing, Gon ran down the stairs and looked at Mito. "Aunt Mito, please, I promise I'll behave. Please, I swear, if I break this promise, I'll never go on another journey again. Really, Aunt Mito, trust me, please," Gon said with a serious face.
Mito looked at him with tears in her eyes and began to cry, then started to hug Gon. Gon hugged her back. Then they broke apart, and Gon held out his pinky for a pinky promise.

Mito: "Okay, Gon, you can go to the Hunter Association, but on one condition: you don't go alone. You have to go with at least one friend, understand? At least one, okay?"
"Understood," said Gon. He ran happily to his room and immediately called the first person that came to mind. Unfortunately, it wasn't Killua. Naturally, Gon called Leorio, who immediately said yes and told Gon he'd arrive by midday. Gon hung up and jumped around his room, shouting, "YAY! I CAN GO ON AN ADVENTURE! YES, YES, YES! ADVENTURE, HUNTER, HUNTER, HUNTER!"
Mito came to his room at the noise, first looking stern, but then smiling warmly and said, "Maybe you should start preparing if you're leaving soon." Gon nodded, grabbed his usual green outfit, and then his boots, which were just as green as his clothes. He also packed his backpack with spare clothes, his fishing rod, a bit of underwear, and that was it. Gon was so excited, he could hardly believe it.

At midday, Gon was already waiting outside the harbor for Leorio. The ship was almost docked. When it finally arrived, Gon ran onto the ship before Leorio could disembark. "LEORIO!!!" Gon shouted, hugging him tightly. They embraced each other warmly.
"Wow, you definitely missed me," said Leorio, laughing as he lifted Gon up. "Are you ready to be a Hunter again, even though you already are one?" Leorio asked.
"Yes, let's go to the Hunter Association! I want to encounter those creatures they talked about," said Gon excitedly.
Leorio laughed, "Yeah, I heard they come from the Dark Continent. But seriously, since you don't have Nen, you should be careful."
Gon nodded, and the two boarded the ship. As always, Gon shouted goodbye to everyone and waved to Mito one last time. Now the ship was out on the open sea, and Whale Island was barely visible.
Leorio asked, "Say, Gon, do you still keep in touch with Killua?"
Gon looked down sadly. "No, but I hope he comes too."
