After Gon and Killua part ways following the events where Alluka (or Nanika) heals Gon, they each go on different paths. Gon returns to his aunt Mito, as losing his Nen prevents him from embarking on further dangerous adventures. Despite this, his f...
Gon went downstairs into a waiting room and stared angrily at the floor, mumbling words like, "Killua, it's just that I don't care if he gets hurt or even if he dies—well, only if he gets hurt, I'll help him, and he won't even accept the help. I really wanted to support him, but if he doesn't want it, whatever. I'm not always at fault; this time it was him. Well, even though he saved me a few times, Gon convinced himself but then pushed the thought away. Gon meant to say that Killua shouldn't be angry or sad since (allegedly) Killua has no problems according to Gon's view, but Gon was sure he just wanted to be happy with him again, even if there was a little outburst between them at the beginning.
Gon sat on the floor and waited for the others. He wondered what Killua was doing now, but before he could think too much about it, they arrived—well, not all of them, but at least Leorio and Knuckle were there. Since it was crowded and so many other hunters had left, he could only see them. "Hey, what's up?" Leorio said, ruffling Gon's hair.
Knuckle asked, "How's Killua? Everything okay now, right?" Gon shook his head, a bit sadly but strangely. "No, I turned away from him," Gon said.
When the two boys heard this, they exclaimed loudly, "WHAT?! Gon, you can't do that; you're best friends! What were you thinking?" Leorio almost shouted. Gon looked sadly at the floor but then spoke.
Gon: "I wanted to help Killua and apologize, but he was still angry. We even went to the doctor because Killua had hurt his stomach, and the doctor rambled on about... well, wait a minute (Gon didn't really listen to what the doctor said, so he forgot it). Oh right, something about the doctor, but it wasn't anything serious or yeah, but then he left and said he would clean up my mess. I kept saying I was sorry, I was sorry, but he was so angry, and I was too, and I didn't want that anymore. I mean, he has no reason to be angry; he's doing fine, he's not with his family anymore, and I just don't understand his problems, so I told him to leave, and he said, 'Okay, then I'll go,' and then he left, and now I'm here."
Gon told this with very quick tempo and even started to cry.

"Calm down for a moment," Leorio said soothingly, stroking Gon's hair. "Gon, I think we need to talk, okay?"
Gon nodded. Since this was a conversation between two close friends, Knuckle stepped away to give them some space. Gon and Leorio found a quiet room and sat on a sofa. Gon was still crying, though not excessively.
"I just don't understand," Gon said, tears still streaming down his face.
Leorio replied, "Gon, I think I know what the problem is."
When Gon heard this, he looked up, hopeful and expectant.
"Listen, you guys are best friends, but I think things went a bit too far with this Killua situation," Leorio said seriously.
"What do you mean? We saved him, and that should be it," Gon said loudly.
Leorio continued, "Gon, there was something you didn't know. You probably know Alluka, right? And you know she healed you? Well, she's Killua's sister and was trapped in the Zoldyck family home. And you know how the Zoldycks are Killua's family. There were some serious issues with his family."
Gon had no idea about this. As he slowly stopped crying, he began to understand. Gon asked what these problems were, and Leorio explained that Killua had to risk a lot to get Alluka out. Killua was deeply invested in helping Gon, just as Alluka was important to Killua. He even had to threaten to kill his own mother to get the help needed for Gon, all while being pursued by his brother Illumi and his family's butlers. The Zoldycks were furious, especially since Illumi still wanted Alluka, and Killua constantly worried that Illumi might be plotting something.
When Gon heard this, he initially found it hard to believe, but he still wanted to help. Leorio asked if Gon understood, and Gon only nodded silently. He didn't want to accept it; he just wanted to feel that Killua was okay. But he learned all of this while he was in a coma, and nobody had told him until Leorio revealed it now. Gon now noticed that when he is angry, words come out of his mouth that he should rather not say
