A few blocks away from the baseball field, Leah was hanging out with her friend Erica and her younger cousin Josh at the local park. Erica lifted up her cousin, as he was flying one of his kites up in the air. Leah also tried flying one of the kites that belonged to Josh as she hadn't tried it out in a long time from when she was little.
"See now you're starting to get the hang of it" Erica said to her cousin.
Josh was having fun flying his kite and getting to spend time at the park, but Erica had to take him back home soon before it got late.
She then turned over to her friend and asked her about the game.
"Oh yeah, I just remembered our school is playing off against West Side this evening. I would watch it but I have to take Josh back and I have to finish my Science project for tomorrow, but I guess you can go ahead and check it out if you want."
"Well I wouldn't mind but I don't know if it'd be fun to watch it by myself. I also have homework to finish so I think I'm good" Leah responded back.
"Well you can always make some new friends there but I get you girl, maybe next time."
Erica then placed her cousin on her bike with her and waved at her friend as they rode off.
"Tomorrow again."
Leah waved back at her and rode off on her bike in a different direction.
Meanwhile, Sonic had lots of fun enjoying the game. He was happy to see that his favorite team was winning. He blended right in with the crowd as he wore his Green Hills cap, a Green Hills shirt and wore a large foam finger on his hand as he rooted for the team.
While riding her bike, Leah caught a small glimpse of the game as she passed by the fields. She stopped for a little while to watch what was going on and then continued pedalling along. It was only a matter of time until the gem on her necklace started glowing rapidly. She started to get both confused and worried as to why it started glowing all of a sudden. Normally it would only do this as a form of warning or communication. Not only did the gem continue to glow but she soon notices the rest of the environment fading away from her. She then finds herself riding into an endless void. Her bike is even gone now as she is standing alone in pitch darkness. She starts wondering whether this was just a hallucination or if it was really happening. Whatever it was, she did not like it one bit. She then heard laughing all of a sudden. The laughter sounded like that of a maniacal man. She wasn't sure whether to follow it or run. A green light then started appearing and had shone brightly in front of her. A mysterious green object floated in front of her. Before she could move any closer, a pair of hands then started reaching out toward the object that looked suspiciously like an emerald. The pair of hands was attached to that of a dark figure where the laughter was coming from. She couldn't tell who this figure was based on the silhouette.
But before anything else happened, the girl had snapped back into reality and everywhere else had turned back to normal once again. However, not looking where she was going, she ended up stumbling into a large rock, which caused both her bike and herself to tumble forward.
Sonic was not too far from the incident as he was planning to buy some ice cream. He took notice of the fallen girl before anyone else did, and saw this as another opportunity to be a hero once again. He then raced into the bushes where the girl and her bike were located. Sonic came close to her and reached his hand out to her.
"Are you okay miss?" he asked her.
She was struggling to get up and attempted to respond back to him.
"Yeah, I think so."
But before she could even see who was in front of her, she turned over to face him and immediately got startled by his appearance. She fell back to the ground as she stared right at him.
