Sonic The Hedgehog 2 : The Quest for The Emerald

An Alliance Is Formed

On the other side of town, we find out that Robotnik's former sidekick, Agent Stone, has been working at a coffee shop known as the Mean Bean Machine. He had been working the night shift and had just finished preparing a special type of coffee, one that had an image of the doctor's face on it. He stared long at the coffee after he had finished preparing.

"Doctor, where are you?" he asked silently to himself before he got interrupted by an impatient customer.

After the customer had left, he then noticed the signal on his watch that Robotnik had sent. He gets excited and quickly closes up the shop to make sure that no one is around.

He heads over to the back and scans his eyes on a retina scanner. He then pushes a red button and this sends out a signal to a satellite seen in space.

He walks back to the counter and is unable to contain his excitement.

"He's back. HE'S BACK!!"

The satellite then launches an egg-shaped pod down to Earth.

Robotnik looks up to see the pod lowering down to him, and as he does so, he puts down his goggles from on top of his head.

The pod opens up and the doctor enters in. A few small robots are seen flying around the pod and fixing up Robotnik's appearance. After a brief wardrobe swap, Robotnik now donned a completely new look. He walked out of the pod with all his other badnik robots surrounding him.

"That's more like it. I've been...RE-HATCHED!"

He stopped by the cliff and spoke to Knuckles who was still hanging from the edge of the cliff with his claws.

"So, my massively metacarpaled friend. You mentioned Uuuuuuuultimate power back at the house?"

"The Master Emerald? It does not concern you! I got you off that planet and you brought me to the hedgehog. We have no more use for each other!"

Robotnik rebuts his statement.

"Well I hate to be a contrarian but I think we might."

A few of his badniks then came close to Knuckles and had him surrounded.

"You think these machines are a match for me? I will shatter them like the bones from a fallen–"

He then immediately looks down and realizes that they were making a staircase for him.

"Oh, they are stairs."

He is now back on top with Robotnik, who proceeds to tell him his plan.

"You see, Earth is my turf, G. If you don't know how to floss, you'll be lost without me."

"I understand nothing of what you just said."

"I help you retrieve the Emerald, and you use it to DESTROY THE HEDGEHOOOOOOOOOG!!!"

"You're suggesting an alliance?"

"Around here, we simply grip each other's hands tightly."

Robotnik then held his hand out for a handshake, to which Knuckles proceeded to grip his hand tightly, only for him to crush the doctor's hand in the process. Robotnik felt immense pain as he held onto his hand.

"You truculent space bumpkin! You crushed my favorite hand!"

"Really? My hand is uninjured," the echidna replies back, "But I am now convinced of your commitment."

"Oh goodie. Ayyy I'm delighted to be on the same...team."

He then pressed a few buttons which had lowered the Egg Mobile out towards them.

"Road trip. I'll let you stick your nose out the window."

We then find out how the three friends are doing, as they had made it back down to land safely. They then take a stop by a nearby bush. After all that had just happened, Leah was still in a moment of shock and disbelief. She took one huge breath before saying anything.

"Well I certainly wasn't expecting my night to end out like this."

"Yeah, I know things really got out of proportion tonight" Sonic comments back as well.

"Seriously, why are those two out to get you so much? Are you like a fugitive of some kind? Are there more people we should expect to be running from as well?"

The hedgehog was completely speechless after hearing that and had no idea what to say.

She then sits down by a nearby rock. Sonic can see how upset she clearly was and proceeds to cheer her up. He really felt bad about how their night had turned out.

"Hey, I'm really sorry the night turned out to be a total disaster. I can understand if you don't want to hang out with me anymore."

He now had a look of sadness on his face.

She turned over to look at him, noticing how guilty he felt.

"Oh no, of course not. I still had a lot of fun with you today but...I just need time to process all of this ok."

Tails also felt bad about everything that happened and tried apologizing as well.

"Hey, I'm sorry if I might have ruined your evening as well. I was only trying to help you all."

She then turned over to look at the fox.

"Oh no, it's alright. Tails is it? Thank you so much for helping us both out back there. I really appreciate it."

"You're welcome" he said back to her with a smile.

"So what exactly do we do now? We don't have any other mode of transportation right now" he had asked the two of them.

"I don't know. Maybe we should check with the local police. I'm sure they could probably clear some of this up."

After hearing her mention the local police, Sonic then hatches an idea.

"Hey, I think I know the right person who can help us. Just follow my lead" he instructs the two of them.
