The Unseen Protectors

-a little story-

The Kaiju loomed on the horizon, a monstrous force against which the people of Japan stood little chance. But in the face of this unfathomable threat, the Japanese Anti-Kaiju Defense Force stood strong and tall, a bulwark against the darkness. They were the silent guardians, the unshakable defenders, the embodiment of the indomitable spirit of the Japanese people. They charged into battle, not for personal glory, but for the sake of their country, their families, and their very way of life.

It's given in six division in the JAKDF. First division defense force, third division defense force, fourth division defense force,the fifth and sixth division defense force.

Huh. Weird. Where did the Second division defense force go?

Six years ago, Second division were given a mission to slay a Kaiju.

Kaiju no.7

The unit fought bravely, their skills and experience pushed to the limit as they faced the fearsome Kaiju no.7. Despite their best efforts, they were no match for the creature's overwhelming power and strength. In a final, tragic battle, the unit was defeated and brutally killed by the monstrous Kaiju, their sacrifice a testament to their courage and loyalty to their mission.

It's an unforgettable memories to everyone in Japan. Especially the defense force units. The second division unit loss their captain. Their great captain,who didn't survived,causing a downfall to the unit.

Their vice captain... vanished. Running away? Guilty? Anger? Sad? Nobody knows what's the reason behind it.

After six years,the higher-ups decided to deprived the Second division from the JAKDF. Afraid that it'll effect the country. So now, second division unit, only exists in their mind not in real life anymore.

There's one unit, that is not very appealing to everyone. The Medical Defense Force unit,known as MDF.

The Medical Defense Force (MDF) is trained for non-combat roles, focusing solely on treating and healing wounded individuals during Kaiju attacks. Despite not being frontline fighters, the MDF plays a crucial role in providing medical assistance to both civilians and members of the military, helping to ensure the safety and recovery of those affected by the Kaiju threat.

Despite having a role like a doctor,did not gain any trust from others. They don't believe that the MDF can save people with their non-combat experience.

The MDF were used to be called by people as "The unseen protectors".

Nobody ever care about them,only hoping and holding onto the division defense force when there's Kaiju attacking the country.

Ouch.

Thought being a second choice is the most painful thing that could ever happened.

But,not being anybody's choices hurts more.

[Meeting]
This is literally the fourth time... for this week..I haven't done my paperwork yet..Kaiju surely loves attention huh..

I stretched my body as I continue to walk, heading myself to the meeting room. I could see a glimpse of other units enter the room, sighing softly to myself as I mumbled,tired with these Kaiju.

Entering the room,filled with the high status people from their own unit. With the higher-ups in front of them, looking for Ashiro as I noticed her already on her seat. Walking towards her and taking a seat beside her. Leaning back on my chair, smiling to her.

"Who do you think would take the lead this time?"

Starting off with a simple and zero meaning conversation.

Ashiro look at me,then look at our surrounding.

"Probably the first division"
Ah. Of course,she is indeed a professional and serious woman.

Softly chuckle as I straightened up my back. Waiting for the higher-ups speak.

My eyes automatically caught a glimpse of the MDF head with her assistant walking along besides her.

Mitsuko Suori.

She really got a unique personality... I watched her taking a seat with that soft smile.

That smile. Will never leave her face. How did she even managed to hold her smile everyday? That's pretty cool.

Didn't realize that I've been staring at her for a while. Feeling a stare coming from besides her. Curiosity owns me as I look at the direction, only to find, Kanroji.

That kid..

Sawari Kanroji, I don't think that we're a rival or anything but everytime I get close to Suori, trying to be friends with her. Kanroji always there, protecting Suori. I don't even know what's wrong her.

Kanroji keeps glaring at me, almost like threatening me. Her gaze give me a hint,that says:

"Look at her again, I'll cut your neck"

I scoffed at Kanroji, putting both of my hands in the air, defending myself as I slowly put them down. She looks proud after do whatever she just did before.

"You guys still hate each other?"
Ashiro voice causing my heart flinched a little bit. Wow. It's unusual for her to start the conversation.

Running my hand through my hair as I sigh.

"I don't see her as an enemy or rival. She did"

I mumble,not wanting to be seen childish or anything.

Ashiro didn't say anything, leaving the conversation hanging just like that. Nodding my head, understand her behavior. I looked straight at the higher-ups as they start to speak.

"There's a Kaiju, attacking Tohoku. Fortitude level 5.0"

All of us weren't shocked by that. Why would we? It's our job. I took a glance at Suori,just to see her smiling softly.

"First division unit will be send to Tohoku. Any objections?"

The higher-ups said. Nobody was objecting their words. Not until a small hand were raised in the air. Catching everyone's attention.

It was Kanroji.

"How many people are injured there?"
She asked firmly. Despite in her teenage age,she surely is responsible with her job.

"From what we know, there's 60% injured people in there. We'll be sending the MDF unit too. To treat the injured"

The higher-ups decided and it was their final command.

"Of course to heal people,they can't fight"

Someone said that. Causing me looking towards at the person who just said that and back to the MDF unit, which is Suori and Kanroji.

Kanroji were hissing and glaring to the person. While Suori...still remain smiling.

Show me some rage will you..

"It's still better than not being able to participate in this mission "
Kanroji words hits the person heart. Causing them embarrassed and silenced.

I accidentally letting out a small laugh, luckily no one noticed it but Kanroji surely do notice it. Saw her glaring at me, showing me her fist,as if she's threatening me. I decided to play with it, she's a teenager after all.
