Hoshina made his way back to the Defence Force's headquarters, still mulling over his encounter with Suori. He eventually arrived at Ashiro's office, giving a courteous knock on the door.

"come in"

Ah. That familiar answers again.

Hoshina entered the office, closing the door behind him. Ashiro sat at her desk, focused on her work, but looked up as he entered.

"Hey," he said, taking a seat infront of her. "Got a minute?"

"about Suori and the MDF?"

Ashiro surely knows him well

Hoshina was caught off guard by her guess.

"Yeah, actually," he admitted, impressed by her foresight. "I had a little run-in with Suori today. She needed help carrying some stuff, and I ended up walking with her to the MDF building."

As he spoke, he recounted the events, trying to remember as much detail as possible.

"are you trying to tell me that you're a gentleman or what?"

Ashiro raised one of her eyebrows, wanting a straightforward conversation

Hoshina let out a small chuckle, amused by her comment.

"No, it was just a coincidence," he replied, a small smile on his face. "She was struggling with the box, anyone would've helped her."

He leaned forward in his seat, his expression becoming more serious. "But there's more to it. When I asked to take a quick look inside the box, she immediately agreed. It was like she had nothing to hide."

Ashiro eyes perked softly, looking at him as she puts her pen down.

Hoshina noticed the change in Ashiro's expression and continued his report.

"The box was full of standard medical equipment and a training mannequin," he reported. "Nothing out of the ordinary, as far as I could tell."

"Isn't that normal?". Ashiro look at him, tilting her head slightly. Not sure what is he even trying to talk about.

He paused, a hint of unease in his eyes. "But when I tried to follow her into the MDF building, a bodyguard stopped me. Said only people with a 'reasonable purpose' could enter."

Hoshina leaned back in his chair and ran a hand through his hair, his annoyance evident. "It just has me thinking. Why would they be so strict about letting people in? Is there something they don't want us to see?"

Ashiro hummed softly.

"isn't the MDF building supposed to be a public building? Weren't they have the same purpose as hospital?"

Ashiro questioned herself

Hoshina nodded in agreement with Ashiro's observation.

"That's what I thought too," he said, his frown deepening. "But it looked more like a fortress than a hospital. And that bodyguard was definitely not friendly."

He leaned forward, resting his forearms on his knees now. "Something's not adding up. Why would a supposedly public building be so heavily guarded?"

Ashiro stay silent for a quiet long time, thinking about something as she looks at Hoshina.

Ashiro's instinct matched Hoshina's. They look at each other as they nodded.

"Let's go check it again"

"Glad you're on the same page," Hoshina replied, a mixture of excitement and anticipation in his voice. "I've been wanting to get back in there and find out what's really going on."
