Two weeks has passed just like that, doing nothing but following their normal schedule like how they used to before. And also, two weeks of them not being involved in the investigation.
Hoshina was sitting at his small desk in his office, sorting through some reports from the latest Kaiju attack. He let out a frustrated sigh. They were no closer to finding any evidence about the MDF's real background and abilities.
He suddenly noticed that it was getting quiet. Where was Ashiro?
He frowned, a sense of concern growing within him. He knew Ashiro had taken a break from their investigation and had been working on other tasks, but a few weeks had passed. It was unlike her to be this quiet.
Hoshina got up from his desk and walked out of his office, intending to find Ashiro.
It's almost like God heard his thoughts,Ashiro figure could be seen in the corner of his eyes, looking serious and stressed out.
Hoshina could feel her exhaustion from afar, making himself stay silent, until she finally cool herself off
Hoshina watched Ashiro from a distance, taking in her exhausted and stressed demeanor. It was evident that something was bothering her.
"Hoshina"
Ashiro huffed softly, meaning that she's already cooled down
Hoshina glanced up as Ashiro called his name.
"Ashiro," he replied, his voice laced with concern. "You look exhausted."
He studied her face, noting the tension and stress that still lingered in her expression. He knew something was bothering her.
Ashiro let out the longest sigh that he could ever heard from her. Ashiro drink her water as she slowly open up
"I had a meeting with the higher-ups a few hours ago. Asking about the MDF unit bio-data and backgrounds disappearance"
Hoshina leaned forward, his interest piqued. The fact that Ashiro had a conversation with the higher-ups about the missing data was intriguing.
"What did they say?" he inquired, his voice quiet and cautious.
He could sense that Ashiro was about to reveal something important.
Ashiro sigh and pinched the bridge of her nose.
"They were offended by that question. As if they were trying hard to hide something"
"Just because you're strong, doesn't mean you can include yourself in everything "
"That's what they said to me. And damnit it's frustrating.."
Ashiro let out another sigh
Hoshina's frown deepened at Ashiro's words. The higher-ups' reaction was suspicious and defensive. It was clear that they were hiding something, but their reaction made it even more difficult to get to the truth.
"That's not a good sign," he said quietly. "They're definitely trying to cover something up."
He leaned back in his chair, his mind already going over different possibilities.
"what's going on between them,Suori and the MDF unit.."
Hoshina's brow furrowed as Ashiro mentioned Suori. The conversation was leading them to the heart of the mystery.
"Perhaps Suori knows more than she's letting on," he said thoughtfully. "She has connections within the MDF. Maybe she's involved in whatever they're hiding."
"she's the MDF head after all..."
Ashiro let out a soft groans as she set her laptop up.
"I don't care if we get hacked or what, let's just start our investigation back"
