The entire division was aware of the rumor that their vice captain, Suori, had fulfilled her assignment, and the news cast a heavy pall of sadness and melancholy over everyone. It was particularly hard on Hoshina. He was in a state of profound denial, weeping and sobbing each night, waiting for her to return and unveil that it was all just a cruel jape, but deep down, he knew it was unlikely to materialize.
Satori and Kanroji had been doing their best to support him, offering comforting words and reassurance that Suori was now in heaven, happy and reunited with her sister. But these words did little to ease his pain and grief. The woman he loved had died, and although he had known this was coming, the impact of her absence was still leaving a deep and lasting mark on his heart.
He had attended her funeral, but finding it impossible to bear the sight of her framed picture, he fled the scene, overwhelmed by his emotions. The depth of his love for her was tremendous, and the thought of watching her being laid to rest was simply too excruciating to bear. His heart and mind were in turmoil, struggling to come to terms with the profound loss that engulfed him.
He had let himself fall into a state of despair, spending countless days and nights in his bed without leaving his house. His reclusion and isolation had caused many to worry about his well-being.
One day, a bird appeared outside his window, knocking gently against the glass, attracting his attention. It appeared to have been trained to deliver letters, a sight that piqued his curiosity in the midst of his gloom.
He opened the window, allowing a gentle cool breeze to caress his skin. The bird perched on his shoulder, drawing his attention to the tied letter securely fixed to its leg. A sense of intrigue and perhaps a glimmer of hope stirred within him as he gently took the letter, wondering who it could be from and what its contents might hold.
He read the letter as it says:
"Dear the man whom I love, this is me,Suori. How are you doing right now? I hope you're doing good. If you're not, I wish this letter could comfort you in everyway possible. This is my way to show love,so, I hope you don't mind me sending you messages through letters. Old way right? I know, I know. Soshiro, remember the time where we used to have a date with each other,at the amusement park? Believe me,that was the best moments of life ever that could happened in my life. I was selfish, I knew that I'm going to die. I decided to spend more time with you. I wanted to let myself feel you more, loving you and admiring you more. Before I go leaving you. I'm so sorry Soshiro.. I'm sorry. I love you so much and I was selfish for leaving you after what we have done. In another life, I wish..you could asked one more time, knelt to the ground, pull out the ring and said "marry me,Suori my dear". I wish in another life,we can be a perfect couple, with kids, happily ever after. Like how those story always ended up..Soshiro, I love you for a thousand year and I'll always love you. I'm sorry for leaving you.."
He read the words with a mixture of emotions, his heart heavy with sadness and heartbreak. The letter was from Suori, the woman he loved, reaching out to him from beyond the grave.
He remembered their date at the amusement park, a moment of joy and happiness that now seemed like a distant memory. She had apologzied for being selfish, for wanting to spend as much time with him as possible before her tragic end. She wished they could have had a different future, a perfect life together, with children and a happily ever after.
As he continued reading, she confessed her eternal love for him, expressing her regret for leaving him behind. The words echoed in his mind, each one filled with pain, longing, and a deep connection that transcended the boundaries of death. He clutched the letter tightly, tears streaming down his face as he absorbed the bittersweet message from beyond the veil.
His voice quivered as he spoke aloud to himself, his words a mixture of grief and determination. "In another life... I'll make sure to treat you better... I promise, Suori..."
Tears welled up in his eyes, and uncontrollable sobs wracked his body as he clutched the letter tightly, facing the reality that she was gone, no longer here with him on this earthly plane. But with his tears came a glimmer of acceptance—a willingness to wait patiently, to hope for the day when they might be reunited again, either in heaven or in another life.
