"Was I a bet?"

She looked at me, the smile on her face disappeared. Unfortunately, she didn't even need to answer. I could read her face like a book.

"I mean-it's not what you think" she stuttered.

"What do I think then? That you used me? How much did you win?"

"Lando please, let me explain" she grabbed my hands, made sure I wouldn't walk away.

"Go on then"

She sighed, held my hands a bit tighter. "Yes you were a bet, I made a bet with Jordan"

I chuckled, out of all people, it had to be Jordan, of course.

"But honestly it's nothing, it was just a little bet" she shrugged.

She fucking shrugged as if it was no big deal.

"Just a little bet?" I laughed, shook my head. "Are you that inconsiderate with people's feelings?"

She tilted her head, started laughing. "Pretty big, coming from you, no?"

I couldn't believe her. Fair enough, I done my fair bit of kissing girls and messing around a little.

But I gave it all up for her. In a heartbeat, didn't even have to think about it.

"Fuck, I'm so glad I didn't go public with you" I mumbled as I got up.

Wiped the sand of my clothes and walked away.

I fucking hated the beach.

———————————————

I went back to the house we rented after I had a long walk.
I didn't know what to think or what to do.

The smartest thing to do was kick her out. Made sure she wouldn't dig deeper in my heart, if that was even possible.

I was a fucking bet that she made with Jordan.

But I also wanted to hear her out. Was I still a bet? Did she regret it? Did she fall for me?

I was hoping she fell for me as hard as I fell for her.

I walked back in my room, the room I shared with Francesca. I didn't even need to kick her out because she was already packing her suitcase.

"Where are you going?" I asked as I closed the door behind me. "I am going home" she answered.

"Are you serious?"

"Yes I am serious" she said as she closed her suitcase and got up. "I don't want to act as if everything is fine between us"

"Then we have to talk it out" I said but she was already walking to the door.

She didn't answer so I grabbed her by her arm. "You're not going anywhere"

"Don't touch me, Lando" she grumbled, took her arm back. "You are mad because of a stupid little bet"

"C'mon Francesca, it wasn't a little bet and I have every right to be annoyed about it, no?"

"You kissed like 100 girls in that club" she said as she raised her voice.

"What does that have to do with your bet though?"

"It's the same damn thing"

I chuckled. "No it's not" I raised my voice too. I was trying to be as calm as possible but she was getting on my nerves.

This wasn't the same damn thing.

"Oh fuck off Lando, don't act so innocent" she opened the door, but I quickly put my hand against it, closed it again. "If you leave now, then you don't have to come back"

"What if I don't wanna come back?" She said as she looked straight in my eyes.

"You don't mean that"

"I do"

"Why? Because you won your bet?"

She slapped my hand away, opened the door again. "Oh Lando, I won that bet ages ago"

And with that, she took her suitcase and walked out.

She definitely won that bet ages ago, she knew I fell for her a long time ago.
