Hades POV.
4 months into school, and I wanna burn this place to the ground. If it wasn't for my friends Hook and Maleficent, I probably would've the first week. Both somehow managed to keep me sane with all the royals running around being stupid. Getting back from thanksgiving break was like getting slapped in the face with Santa and Christmas trees. I swear, why do these mortals like Christmas so much?! Half of the student body was running around, preparing for the winter formal, and the other half was planning out how to ask their significant others in the most outrageous ways possible.
I knew one of my classmates, Aladdin I think, was planning on asking one of the other girls in my class, only cause he can't shut up about it, so choosing to spear myself that hell I left class. Well, realistically, I didn't even show up; not like we had anything important in that class anyway. I didn't want to get caught by that stupid hall monitor, (why do schools even have that?!) so I opted to hang out in the enchanted forest. Most students don't go out there. They aren't sure what's in those forest and they don't wanna know; that, and the fact they don't wanna be out in the cold. Me on the other hand, I like the chance that I'll run into a giant or something. Plus, I'm an underworld god, I enjoy the cold.
Sadly, I didn't run into any giants, I did however, run into a certain horned friend of mine. Maleficent was standing over a fallen tree, she looked almost sad. The tree wasn't dead, it looked like someone cut it and then left it. I stood there watching her, as she used her magic to raise the fallen tree back up, and reattach it back to the stump. I'd seen her use magic before; often bright green, but this time it was gold. It certainly interested me.
"Well that was cool." I said, coming out of my hiding spot. She slightly jumped when she heard my voice, guess she didn't know I was there. "Though, I never thought you of all people would care about the trees"
She turned and glared at me. "I'm a fae, what did you expect?"
"Fair enough."
"So, why are you out here? Don't you have history this period?" She asked.
"Aladdin is planning on asking out his girl to winter formal and I didn't wanna be there for that."
"How do you even know that?"
"Cause the guy won't shut up about it." I complained, plopping down under the tree that Maleficent just fixed. "What about you? Why are you out here?" I asked.
"No teacher. Didn't have to attend class."
"Really? Mr. "I never miss a day of class" didn't show up?"
"Well, you can't attend class if you're not awake." She smirked, her eyes flashing a bright green.
I couldn't hold back a smile as I realized what she did. "You're an evil little girl." I teased.
"I know~" she smiled, twirling her hair innocently. I couldn't help but laugh; she was cute when she smiled.
"So," I asked, "what happened to the tree?"
"Fucking princes." She growled, plopping down beside me. "They cut the tree down for fun and than left it. Didn't use the wood or anything, just left it."
"That sounds like a waste of time to me."
She shot me a death glare and I realized I probably phrased that wrong.
"I mean cutting the tree, not fixing it."
"Healing" she corrected
"What?"
"I wasn't 'fixing' it, I was healing it."
"Is that why the color of your magic was different?" I asked.
She nodded. "I was born with magic, most of it controlled the wilderness, healing, stuff like that. Other magic was learned, that's more dark magic." She explained. It was interesting to hear from her. I knew some people who were learning fae magic, but didn't know Fae that learned other types of magic. I was pulled out of my thoughts when I noticed her shivering. Actually, I just noticed that she didn't have any kind of jacket on, just long sleeve and leather jeans. I took mine off and put it over her shoulders. She looked at me surprised and a bit confused.
"What?" I asked.
"Nothing. Aren't you gonna get cold?"
"Nope. I'm an underworld god, the cold doesn't bother me. Plus, I like the cold."
"Noted." She pulled the jacket around herself to keep warm. I hadn't noticed before, but it looked like she didn't bother trying to put anything warm on, almost as if she didn't intend to be outside very long.
"Can I ask you something?" I asked.
She nodded. "Sure."
"You weren't already out here when you found the tree were you?"
She hesitated, then shook her head. "What gave it away?"
"Your clothes."
She looked down, I guess realizing that she wasn't exactly dressed for the cold. "I saw Prince Philip and his friends heading to the forest with axes and I didn't bother grabbing any kinda jacket. I just wanted to stop them from whatever they were doing."
"What were you doing when you saw them?"
"I was in my drawing. I saw them from the window."
"Okay." I stood up and held my hand out. "Come on."
She looked at me confused. "What?"
"I'm taking you back inside before you freeze to death."
"I'm fine."
"Lotus Flower your hands are red from the cold, you're shivering, you're barely dressed for the cold, and it's about to start snowing again. So your going inside to warm up, while I go punch Philip in the face. Now, whether that be on your own to feet or over my shoulder is up to you."
Maleficent glared at me before taking my hand and standing up.
"I thought I told you not to call me that."
"You did, but I like that nickname so deal with it."
