Book:
Synonyms For Better by @xPurpleStarzANALYSIS
Plot: Studious Cora Turwal is at her aunt's for a small stay. She needs this holiday...even though she might just spend half of it studying anyway. She realizes how different their lifestyle is when she meets the group of friends that stay for rent at her aunt's. Different...but not better. Join Cora in this hilarious adventure as she allows her friends to help her break out of her shell while she teaches them a thing or two about her own sweet and thoughtful ways. (Taken from description)
Characters: Cora is the main character of this story. She is reserved, cautious, very anxious, and shy. The story revolves around her and the living situation with her aunt and the three other people who live in the house; Jolene, Renzo, and Finn.
Writing Style: 9/10 The story is written in a 1st POV, which is Cora's. We can see and hear Cora's thoughts about herself and others based on whatever goes on around her. Her personality and way of thinking allow for a very whimsical and imaginative thought process. This writing style allows the reader to almost become the main character.
Spellings and Vocabulary: 10/10 Spelling, Vocabulary, and sentence building are very well done. No issue at all in this regard.
EVALUATION
Overall Impression: The story has a very good plot and the build-up is gradual. It wasn't as cliche as I expected it to be which is a good thing. It is a very immersive and comical story, especially because of the POV. However, it is a simple story that doesn't cause emotional turmoil for the reader (yet...)
Strengths & Weaknesses: One strength I want to point out is that the main character has realistic goals and aspirations despite her anxiety. This makes the book more grounded in reality and relatable.
Recommendation: Add a bit of suspense and drama. If everything goes too well, it gets long-winded and less interesting for the reader.
Target Audience: 14-30, Young adults, New adults
