BEHOLD! MY DIFFICULT ROOMMATE
REVIEW BY :: YURI iamjenlisasuperior
Cover :: 8/10
The title and Cover both are really alluring to me because of the animatic approach of it. It feels like it is a story which already has a manga or an anime, which I wouldn't be surprised if it does end up getting one in the future because it is THAT good.
The title suggests that there will be slight annoyance from the side of the protagonist for the love interest aka Jamie, and who doesn't want a love story with some differences and bittersweet moments? The title and cover both suggest that the story is about chasing romance and such, which isn't entirely the case here, hence I would recommend adding some dark elements to the title or cover, or both.
Blurb or Description :: 9/10
Here comes the moment of truth, even though there were some inconveniences in the title and cover part, the reason it got a high score is because of the description of the story!
The description perfectly portrays the big picture of the story in front of the reader's eyes, they get to know that the story isn't just about an annoying roommate who happens to be the love interest of the protagonist and after some (or many) interactions they elope, and boom happily ever after.
Surprise, not that cliché here! The description really made the story more appealing to read, as it not only has romance but mystery and thrilling adventures in it.
Grammar and Vocabulary :: 9/10
In the beginning there weren't any mistakes to find and I was afraid my review would be of no help seeing how seemingly perfect the story was, however the author made some mistakes half way in (smiles sinisterly*).
The mistakes were very minor which doesn't affect the readers interest in the slightest. The mistakes were writing on when it should be off. And the spelling of life was written as a lie one time. The vocabulary used is quite simple which is a plus point as most of the readers don't want to keep a dictionary by their side to search for the meaning of unique words they have never come across that are being used in stories they read.
Plot :: 9/10
The plot so far seems intriguing. By the tags and description I can make a guess about how things are going to occur, although I can't be so sure as there are always twists and turns. It is likely there will be a love triangle here and I am up for the drama that is going to take place with two cups of grandes* in my hand.
Character and their development :: Not applicable here.
Pace of the story :: 10/10
The pace of the story is perfect, neither too fast nor too slow, it outstandingly portrays the whole backstory of the characters now that they are getting to the main arc of the story.
Writing style :: 8/10
Writing style is adequate, although sometimes it feels that it isn't enough to portray the feelings of the characters, sometimes it feels that the characters are just telling their feelings in a monotonous language, it is hard for the readers to connect with the characters that way, try to depict the feelings in more words, how it is hard for them to breathe, how suffocated they feel etcetera.
Ending :: Not applicable here.
Personal enjoyment :: 9/10
I personally enjoyed the story a lot, apart from the point I mentioned above about the writing style. I liked everything else about the book; the characters, the plot and the cliffhangers.
Any other suggestions ::
On another note, don't make any changes to the cover of the title at all, although it would be better if you do. I think the cover shows the characters inner thoughts, how Jamie is like: “Oh? You wanna challenge me? Bring it on, you are gonna lose though.”
Meanwhile, Kai is just annoyed by everything and is like: “Just get it over with, I am not afraid, because I have someone who has got my back.” It fits the plotline.
