**Chapter 10: Crossing Lines**

*Francesca's P.O.V.*

The gala had left me with more questions than answers. I couldn't stop thinking about Xander—his charm, his vulnerability, and the unexpected connection we had shared. I found myself replaying moments from the evening, wondering what they meant for us.

Little did I know, Xander was having similar thoughts. In his office, he stared at his phone, debating whether to call me. He finally gave in and dialed my number.

"Francesca," he said when I answered, "I need you to come in this weekend. We have a lot of work to catch up on."

"But I work at the Coffeebar on weekends," I protested. "I already told you that."

"I'll pick you up at 10 AM," he replied, ignoring my protests.

---

Saturday morning arrived, and true to his word, Xander was waiting outside my apartment at 10 AM sharp. Xander walked in with me, and I introduced him to Violet, who worked at Williams Corp.

"Nice to meet you, Mr. Williams," Violet said, her eyes wide with surprise.

"Call me Xander," he replied with a charming smile. "Francesca talks about you often."

After a brief chat, we headed to the office. The day was filled with meetings and paperwork, but there was an underlying tension between us. Every glance and touch felt charged with something more.

As the day ended, Xander turned to me. "Where do you want to be dropped off?"

"I still want to drop by the Coffeebar," I said. "I miss Danny and Elena."

---

We arrived at Vespr Coffeebar, and I introduced Xander to the couple. Danny and Elena were initially on edge, but as we talked, their demeanor softened.

"Would you like something to drink?" Elena asked.

"I'll have a black coffee," Xander said.

"And a smoothie for me, please," I added.

As we waited for our drinks, Danny and Elena shared stories about the Coffeebar's history and their journey. Xander seemed genuinely interested, and I could see him warming up to them.

Our drinks arrived, Xander asked smoothie?

"I'm lactose intolerant," I explained, taking a sip of my smoothie.

Danny smiled. "No one would have thought you two would get close."

Xander and I exchanged a look. "Life is full of surprises," he said.

---

After a pleasant conversation, Xander drove me home. As we stood at my door, the tension between us was palpable.

"Thank you for today," he said softly.

"Thank you for coming," I replied, my heart pounding.

Without warning, he leaned in and kissed me. It was a gentle, yet passionate kiss that took my breath away.

"I can't stop thinking about you," he admitted, pulling back slightly.

"I can't stop thinking about you either," I confessed.

He kissed me again, deeper this time, before finally letting me go. "Goodnight, Francesca."

"Goodnight, Xander," I whispered as i opened the door.

---

Inside, Violet rushed over, her eyes wide with curiosity. "What happened? Tell me everything!"

All I could do was blush and gush. "We kissed. Twice."

Violet squealed with delight. "I knew it! You two have been dancing around each other for weeks."

We spent the rest of the evening talking about Xander and the unexpected turn our relationship had taken. For the first time in a long while, I felt a sense of excitement and possibility. As I drifted off to sleep, I couldn't help but wonder what the future held for us.
