**Chapter: The Contract**
It took about 40 minutes to get to his office because I had to collect my ID, get the coffee, and find his office. I stood in front of a double door that said CEO on the nameplate. Knowing the Devil would be upset, I mentally prepared myself.
Knocking on the door, I heard a faint "Come in" from within. My hand on the handle, I took a deep breath and went in.
"You're late," he stated, looking up from his computer.
"I know," I said arrogantly.
"And is there a reason?" he asked.
"Yes, Mr. Williams, finding your office was one," I replied with an attitude.
"Excuse me, did you forget who's the boss here?" he said. "You better watch that attitude of yours because I am your boss, and do not forget I can throw you and the people you care for out on the street and leave you unemployed," he threatened. I felt like I had just been struck with the realization that he could destroy me in no time. "What have I gotten myself into?" I thought.
He was calm now, drinking his coffee. "The coffee is surprisingly nice. Good job!" he said.
I replied with a silent thank you.
"Now, let's get to business. You will be signing a contract that states the amount you will be receiving and how long you are needed to work with us," he said. I already knew I had to work for him for about three years, but we never discussed the monthly payment. He slid the contract in my direction.
I picked it up and started to read.

**CONTRACT FOR EMPLOYMENT**
For the next three years, FRANCESCA BROWN will be working for WILLIAMS CORP.
Ms. Brown will be receiving an apartment, a car, and a salary of THREE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS ($300,000) which will be paid every month.
If she attempts to break this contract, she will be arrested for defamation of character against the CEO and will not receive the rest of her salary for that month. In addition, Williams Corp. will bring charges against her for breaking the contract early.
---
"I do not need an apartment or a car," I said.
"It is from the company. As the CEO's personal assistant, you will need the car for errands, and the apartment is four minutes away from the company. The closer, the better, as I am a very busy man," he said seriously.
"Thinking of it now, the man is definitely bipolar," I thought.
Knowing I had lost this battle, I took a deep breath and signed the damned contract. Looking up, I saw him smirking, and I felt like slapping the smirk away.
"The key to the apartment and car will be delivered by the end of the day, and any other notifications will be sent via email to you. Good luck," he said.
"More like bad luck," I thought.
