Just a wee little something whilst I am nearly 10k words deep into my next short story (they're no longer one shots let's be real here people). Inspired by a tiktok acct I follow that has done some AI voicemails (happy to let y'all know when I find it again lmao) plus this format was requested so all feedback is welcome!!!

"Just gonna have a bath," (Y/N) muttered to herself as her nails tapped quickly against her phone screen. "Not taking my phone with me, will message you when I'm out of the bath." She then quickly tapped 'xoxoxo' before locking her phone and tossing it on the night stand. The phone buzzed a couple of times with voice prediction written texts and a couple of missed calls, until her beloved chose to leave a voice mail.

"Hi liefje, I know you're having a bath, but I cannot wait to get home to you, Jimmy, Sassy and Astrid. I cannot wait to meet our new edition, you'll have to tell me where you got a grey maine coon! Anyway, besides the point. I'll be home before you go to bed, love. I'll see you soon, love you!" The phone clicked off, the message sitting solely on the phone until he called again.

"Me again, just wanted to see if you were out of the bath yet. Did you get my gift? I know you were looking at these pajamas before I went away, so I know you'll love them. Cannot wait to feel you in the bed next to me tonight, I cannot describe how much I love and miss you. Anyway, I hope you're having a lovely bath and are all relaxed for my triumphant return. I love you so much." And the line clicked again.

"Hey babe, just wanted to let you know I'm on my way back from the airport. Your parents were super lovely and appreciative of my giving them a lift back, not that they needed to worry - I was always going to!" His voicemail started, a long giggle fit following his last words. "Anyway, I know you are having a nice soak so I'll let you prune up, I'll be home in time to help with the lotion application. I cannot wait to feel you up. Love ya!" The messages teased, no notifications being received after a while prompted him to call again.

"Baby, I know you're enjoying yourself but I'm on my way home and I'm gonna stop by the Chinese. Gonna get you a veggie chow mein, prawn roast and a cheeky portion of duck. I'll plate up when I get in, so at least just throw on your jammies by the time I'm home, love you so much!" He said, blowing a kiss down the line and hanging up as he pulled into the car park of the restaurant.

Leo is so excited whenever I say we're going to be seeing mama soon, he keeps jumping up and down, yapping loudly whenever I say mama as I'm sure you can hear!" The puppy was yapping and barking loudly at the mention of his mum, obviously sick of his human father. "We both missed you so incredibly much and cannot wait for our steak dinner together tonight. I'll stop by the butcher's on the way home to grab the freshest cuts. Love you, ma petit pois." And with that, the line ended with no notifications for a while until a second missed call came through.

"Hey, me again. Jules' parents just called and said they were going to hold a celebration of his life this weekend with it being nine years since he left us and headed to the stars and wondered if we wanted to go. Of course you don't have to, I know how much you loved him and he was the reason we met, but if you find it hard they will understand. We can discuss it later when-- Leo, do not piss on the-- Fucking god dammit!" The line instantly cut, not before a dog bark and a growl from Charles came down the line.

"Hola, mi amor. Just wanted to see if you were out of the bath yet because I wanted to surprise you with something, but if not there is no worry. I want you to know that I love you with my heart and soul, I am counting the minutes until you are in my arms again as it feels as if it has been too long. Call me back when you get this, mi vida, te amo!" And with that, the line cut. He called back about ten minutes later as he approached their abode, hoping she would've got out the bath by this point.
