Arizona walked into Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital, her mind still buzzing with thoughts of Y/N. The kiss had left a mark, one she couldn't shake off. She was conflicted-part of her was excited about the possibilities, but another part was cautious. It felt way too soon to start a new relationship, especially with someone she worked with.

As she made her way to the attending lounge, she tried to focus on the day's tasks. She knew she had a busy schedule ahead and needed to keep her head in the game. But the moment she entered the lounge and saw Meredith Grey sitting there, sipping her coffee and scrolling through her tablet, the thoughts came rushing back.

"Hey, Arizona," Meredith greeted, looking up with a friendly smile.

"Hey, Meredith," Arizona replied, forcing a smile as she poured herself a cup of coffee.

Meredith sensed the tension in the air and raised an eyebrow. "Everything okay? You seem... distracted."

Arizona sighed, taking a seat across from Meredith. "It's just been a weird couple of days. I've got a lot on my mind."

Meredith nodded, waiting for her to elaborate.

Arizona hesitated, then decided to open up a little. "You ever have one of those moments that completely throws you off balance? Something that feels amazing but also incredibly confusing?"

Meredith chuckled softly. "You're talking to someone whose life is a series of those moments. What happened?"

Arizona took a deep breath, her thoughts flashing back to the kiss with Y/N. "I... I kissed someone. Well, actually, she kissed me. And it wasn't just a kiss. It felt like... more."

Meredith's eyes widened with interest. "More, as in... Do you have feelings for her?"

"I don't know," Arizona admitted. "Maybe. It's complicated. We work together, and I'm not sure how to handle it. I think it's too soon for anything serious."

Meredith leaned back, considering. "If it's worth it, you'll figure it out. Don't let fear or uncertainty keep you from something that could be great. But, if you think it's too soon, take your time. There's no rush."

Arizona nodded slowly, appreciating the advice. "Thanks, Meredith. I guess I just need to sort out my feelings and not rush into anything."

"Good plan," Meredith said, giving her a supportive smile. "But if you ever need to talk or vent, you know where to find me."

Throughout the day, Arizona tried to focus on her patients, but her mind kept wandering back to Y/N. Every time she passed by the nurse's station or walked through the halls, she found herself looking for her.

In the OR, Arizona was in her element, skillfully navigating a complex surgery. As she worked, she couldn't help but think about Y/N's competence and dedication. The brief interactions they'd had over the past few days had shown her just how talented and professional Y/N was. There was a mutual respect growing between them, one that only deepened her feelings.

After the surgery, Arizona was washing her hands when she saw Y/N through the glass, talking to a nurse. Their eyes met, and Y/N gave her a small, encouraging smile. Arizona's heart skipped a beat, but she quickly looked away, feeling awkward.

Later, while updating charts at the nurse's station, Arizona found herself standing next to Y/N. They exchanged a few words about a patient's care, both of them professional but with an underlying tension that neither could ignore.

"You handled that surgery brilliantly," Y/N said, her voice full of genuine admiration.

"Thank you," Arizona replied, feeling a rush of pride. "I saw you with your patient earlier. You're really good at what you do."

Y/N smiled, a hint of a blush on her cheeks. "Thanks, Arizona. That means a lot coming from you."

The conversation ended there, the awkwardness palpable. Y/N excused herself to another consult, leaving Arizona standing there, feeling both relieved and frustrated.

As the day came to an end, Arizona found herself back in the attending lounge, reflecting on her feelings. She was torn between her growing attraction to Y/N and her fear of complicating their professional lives. Meredith's words echoed in her mind-if it's worth it, you'll figure it out. But she knew she needed to take it slow and not rush into anything.

Just then, the door to the attending lounge opened, and Y/N walked in. Arizona's heart skipped a beat, but she tried to keep her composure.

"Hey, Arizona," Y/N said, closing the door behind her.

"Hey," Arizona replied, her voice slightly nervous.

Y/N took a deep breath, clearly gathering her thoughts. "Look, I didn't want things to be awkward between us. The kiss... it was a spur-of-the-moment thing. I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable."

Arizona shook her head. "You didn't make me uncomfortable. It's just... I don't want to rush into anything. Things have been a bit... confusing for me."

Y/N nodded, her expression understanding. "I get it. I just want to make sure we're okay. I really respect you, both as a colleague and as a person."

Arizona felt a wave of relief. "I respect you too, Y/N. And I don't want things to be awkward either. Maybe we can just... take things slow, see where it goes?"

Y/N smiled, a genuine and warm smile that made Arizona's heart flutter. "I'd like that."

Arizona returned the smile, feeling a bit lighter. "Great. So, we're good?"

"We're good," Y/N confirmed.

As Y/N left the lounge, Arizona felt a sense of clarity. She didn't have all the answers yet, but at least they were on the same page. For now, that was enough.
