Chapter 27

Andy couldn't sleep due to the contractions getting stronger and closer together so she decided to wake Robert.
Andy: "Robert wake up!" she said as she shook him
Robert: "uhm I'm awake, what's happening?"
Andy: "I think I'm in labor"
Robert: "ok so now let's get ready and go to the hospital okay?"
Andy nodded
Robert put some tracksuit on very quickly and then helped Andy get dressed, when she got out of bed she felt something running down her legs.
Andy: "My water broke"
Robert: "Calm down, breathe, now I'll give you a hand to change"
He helped Andy change and then they rushed to the hospital, before going to the hospital they notified Pruitt.
Andy: "Dad, wake up"
Pruitt: "What's going on?"
Andy: "we're going to the hospital, I think this baby has decided it's time for her to be born"
Pruitt: "Okay, if you need anything call me"

When they arrived at the hospital, Carina was already there waiting for them, she took Andy to a room and examined her.
Carina: "you're 4 centimeters dilated, I'll come back to visit you in two hours, for anything don't hesitate to call me or the nurses"
Andy tried to rest but she was in too much pain and couldn't, at first she walked around the room to relieve the pain then she decided to stay in bed, the hours passed, the pain increased and Andy still wasn't ready for birth.
The hours passed and in the meantime it was morning and Andy was in more and more pain.
Carina: "we're almost there, you're 7 centimeters away"
Andy: "Should I wait any longer? I can't, I'm in too much pain."
Carina: "Andrea, I can only imagine the pain you are feeling but you are the baddest firefighter I know, you enter burning buildings when everyone is running away, I'm sure you will get through this too. After all this suffering you will have your beautiful little girl in your arms and all this will be just a memory."
Andy: "thank you"

A couple of hours later Andy felt the pushing sensation so she called Carina and the nurses.
Nurse: "What's happening?"
Andy: "I feel like I have to push, can you call Dr. De Luca?"
Carina: "here I am, what's happening?"
Nurse: "She says she feels like she's pushing"
Carina quickly examined Andy and noticed that she was ready.
Carina: "now we'll take you to the delivery room"
They took Andy to the delivery room and prepared everything necessary.
Carina: "ok Andrea, push on next contraction"
Andy held Robert's hand tightly and with each contraction she pushed hard.
Andy: "enough, I have no strength left"
Carina: "just a few pushes left, the head is practically out"
Robert: "go love I know you can do it" he gave her a kiss and Andy started pushing again at the first contraction, after 3 more pushes the baby was born, she was wrapped in a blanket and was placed on Andy's chest.
Andy: "welcome to the world little princess" she said starting to cry
Robert: "she is beautiful"
Andy: "we did a marvel"
Robert: "you did great" he said giving her a strong kiss
Andy: "Thanks for all the support, I'm very tired" she said yawning
Robert: "You've been up all night and it's noon"
Nurse: "sorry to bother you, I'll take the little girl so we can wash her and visit her in the pediatrician and you can go back to your room to rest"

After a few minutes they brought Andy back to her room and as soon as she got to the room she went to sleep, while she slept the nurses brought the baby back and Robert picked her up to cuddle her. When the baby started crying he woke Andy up so she could breastfeed her.
Robert: "I'm sorry to wake you but I think she's hungry"
Andy took the baby and began to breastfeed her.
Andy: "she is perfect" she said as she looked at her "all the suffering has been repaid" she said kissing her on the head "did you warn my father?" she asked Robert
Robert: "no, if you want we can video call him now"
Andy: "okay"
Robert sat in bed next to Andy and called Pruitt, as soon as Pruitt answered they saw that Nathan and Olivia were also there with him.
Robert: "Why aren't you at school?"
Olivia: "because today our little sister was born and grandfather made us stay at home"
Nathan: "Was she born?"
Andy: "here she is" she said while Robert framed the little girl
Nathan: "Wow! she is very small"
Olivia: "Can we come to the hospital to meet her?"
Andy: "yes you can come"
Pruitt: "then let's go to the hospital"
Olivia: "wait, can we know what her name is?"
Andy and Robert looked at each other and then told them their names.
Robert: "let us introduce you to little Charlotte"
Olivia: "it's a beautiful name, we'll come to you straight away"

*flashback*

Both Andy and Robert had made a list of names for the baby on a sheet of paper, when they compared the two sheets they saw that they had a name in common.

Andy: "I'd say we found the name"
Robert: "Charlotte...Charlotte Sullivan Herrera, I like the way it sounds"
Andy: "Olivia, Nathan and Charlotte, all three of them play very well together"

*end flashback"

Robert: "I'm also sending a message to the team"
Andy: "please tell them that I don't want them to come to hospital, it's not out of malice but I don't want a lot of people to come to hospital"
Robert: "you don't have to justify yourself, they will understand"

Meet Charlotte Sullivan-Herrera, born at 11:50 this morning

Robert: both Andy and the baby are fine, but Andy is very tired because it has been a long labor and so we ask you not to come to visit us in hospital please and to wait for us to come home, thank you

When Pruitt arrived, Nathan and Olivia immediately ran to greet the baby who had been put back in the crib, Robert helped Nathan and Olivia pick up the baby and Pruitt went to Andy.
Pruitt: "How are you?"
Andy: "very tired but I'm fine, very well indeed"
Pruitt: "the labor lasted a long time"
Andy: "It was very long"
Pruitt: "Do you need anything?"
Andy: "no don't worry, dad, go and meet your granddaughter too"

When visiting hours were over and they went home, Andy nursed Charlotte then Robert changed her diaper and put her in the crib to sleep and they went to rest too. At dinner time the nurses brought dinner for Andy and Robert.
Andy: "hospital food is the worst thing about hospital" she said as she looked at the food they had brought
Robert: "Do you want me to go buy something better?"
Andy: "Would you seriously do this?" Robert nodded "yes please"

Robert went to get something to eat and while Andy nursed Charlotte when Robert returned Andy was finishing breastfeeding.
Robert: "I got hamburgers and fries from your favorite restaurant"
Andy: "you're the best" she placed Charlotte on her chest and started eating the chips
Robert: "she looks like a little doll"
Andy: "it's true, she's so good and calm"
Andy: "Can you pass me the burger?"
Robert: "here"
Andy: "uhm, this is actually good, unlike hospital food"

After eating Robert changed Charlotte's, Andy breastfed her one more time and when she fell asleep Robert put her in the crib.
Andy: "can you help me get up? I have to go to the bathroom" Robert helped Andy get up and go to the bathroom as she was still sore and then he helped her get back to bed and they fell asleep too.
During the night Charlotte woke up about every two hours to eat and Robert changed her nappy, early in the morning Carina and a nurse came to visit Andy and Charlotte and decide whether they could go home tha
