Black and white is smart,
But also sexy like art,
It is not depressing like some might say,
For it is where an artist writes his essay,

Black and white is poetic,
For it is not apathetic,
It eludes passion and desire,
Whilst retaining a classy attire,

A poets paper is white and clean,
And bears a presence so serene,
Intertwined with ink black and dark,
The contrast between is stark,

A pianists keys are these tones,
Who plays his instrument to its bones,
And the sound emitted is fuelled with grace and beauty,
For to create art is black and whites duty,

This small palette decorates music sheets,
To describe to a musician the beats,
He must play in order to create his sound,
So beautiful it dances around,

For you wouldn't expect a poet to wear a coat,
In a vibrant yellow because it would not emote,
A poets emotion like black does part,
The colour of the passion pouring from his heart,

As poets who have souls so pure,
Who pour their blood and tears onto paper to ensure,
That their thoughts do not turn them insane,
And they use the black ink on white paper to write of their pain,

And the night sky is a black space,
With which white stars interlace,
Shining brightly being a source of hope,
In darkness so barren, without them, no one would cope,

For black and white conveys passion so strong,
Only in deep forms of art is does belong,
And is only used by the souls most broken,
To allow their thoughts to not go unspoken.
