19. Promise

18 7 2

I made a promise to you,
One which I broke in two,
And I'm eternally sorry for breaking it,
But this time I'm going to commit,

I know you are disappointed in me,
But how much more do you feel than I can see,
Are you angry, bitter and ashamed,
Because it is I who must be blamed,

I think I've lost your faith and trust,
Because breaking it was unjust,
So to stitch back up this void between us,
I must reseal the promise of thus,

So now for a few weeks I won't see your face,
Giving me chance to make my previous mistakes erase,
Because now I make this promise once more,
And I'm keeping it now unlike before,

And oh what will you think when you see me again,
And I am clean and better than when,
You last saw me and are you really disappointed still,
Because this time this promise of ours I managed to fulfil,

And after this I will never break a promise you make,
Because I put our relationship at stake,
And I fear that if I do not keep it now you will lose hope,
And I can't lose you, the person holding the rope,

So I can't wait to see the look in your eyes,
How proud of me you will be from this surprise,
That although I broke a promise I made to you,
I used my strength to fix it to almost brand new.
