Jessica could feel the servants eyes on her as she walked from Helaena's chambers down to Aegon's. She was to emotional at the moment to get to Starfyre, and all she really wanted was to was to collapse into a bed.
"Your Grace..." Ser Rickard Thorne began hesitantly.
"I'm fine." Jessica stated probably more harshly than needed. "Can I see my brother?"
Ser Rickard Thorne took a breath, gave a nod and opened the door to her brother's chambers.
"Jessica!" She heard Aemond yell as she was about to walk in.
Jessica stopped and turned toward him. Both of them stood at opposite ends of the corridor. Aemond took a few steps forward, holding out his hand out to her. "My Love, please."
Jessica simply stared at him, as if her husband really had the audacity to try and coax her to him. Jessica's hands clenched, before she turned and went into Aegon's chambers.
Maester Orwyle was tending to Aegon, pouring him some tea. "Some rum wouldn't go amiss, Your Grace."
Aegon smiled. "You're a good man, Orwyle."
Jessica had her arms wrapped around herself, tears visibly staining her cheeks.
Master Orwyle looked over as he heard the footsteps. "By the Gods, Your Grace."
Aegon looked over, sitting up as he set the cup aside. "Jess...what happened?"
She said nothing as Master Orwyle was quickly over to Jessica, guiding her to sit down on the bed.
Maester Orwyle quickly went to get some warm water and cleaning cloths.
Jessica had her back to Aegon. He reached over, his fingertips gently rubbing her back. "Jess..."
She said nothing as Master Orwyle tended to her wounds. Finally he pulled back. "That's the best that I can do, Your Grace. The flesh is bruised but nothing underneath is broken. The rest will simply take time. I can go and fetch some Milk of the Poppy for the pain."
Jessica gave a small nod. "Thank you Maester Orwyle."
Maester Orwyle looked to Aegon, sharing a knowing look before he departed.
Aegon did his best to turn to her. "Jess look at me."
Jessica had began shaking by this point. She took a long breath then turned around to Aegon.
Her hair had fallen in front of her face, covering the bruise. Aegon tenderly reached out and tucked the hair behind her ears. His fingers delicately turned her chin so Aegon could get a better look. He licked his lips as they thinned into a line.
Jessica couldn't meet his eye. "I shouldn't have - there was no need to disturb - I just couldn't stay -"
Aegon leaned over and kissed her. "Shhh Jess." He pressed his forehead to hers.
Jessica closed her eyes as she began to cry once again.
Aegon reached over, grabbing Jessica under her arms, shifting her onto his lap and chest.
Jessica tried to protest, leaning up off him. She shook her head no. "You're still recovering -"
He gently shushed her. "You're the one who needs attending too."
They stayed like that for a moment before Jessica eased back down onto Aegon's chest.
His arms locked around her, his fingers running through her hair. Jessica nuzzled against his chest.
