chapter 24

Klaus paced back and forth in his mansion, his phone pressed to his ear. "Katherine, pick up. I know you're there. We need to talk."

But there was only silence on the other end of the line.

Suddenly, Elijah appeared beside him, a knowing look on his face. "She's not going to answer, Klaus. I made sure of it."

Klaus's eyes narrowed. "What do you mean?"

"I told her about your plan," Elijah said, his voice calm. "She heard your conversation, Klaus. She knows you were using her to get revenge on her."

Klaus's face twisted in anger. "You had no right, Elijah!"

"I had every right," Elijah shot back. "You don't love Katherine, Klaus. You never did. You were just using her to get what you wanted and you would have killed her"

Klaus's eyes flashed with rage. "How dare you!"

"I dare because it's the truth," Elijah said, his eyes locked on Klaus's. "And you know that i love her klaus. I love Katherine. I always have."

Klaus's face contorted in fury, and he launched himself at Elijah, fangs bared. Elijah didn't flinch, even as Klaus bit down on his shoulder.

"You fool," Klaus spat, his eyes blazing. "You think you can take her from me she loves me not you?"

Elijah's eyes flashed with pain, but he didn't back down. "I'm not trying to take her from you, Klaus. I'm trying to save her from you."

Klaus's laughter was cold and mirthless. "You'll never save her, Elijah. She's mine mine to use."

But as he looked into Elijah's eyes, he saw something there that gave him pause. Something that looked almost like...love and it his eyes darkened.

Klaus pov

"I can't believe you, Elijah," I snarl, my phone still clutched in my hand. "You think you can just betray me like this?"

Elijah's expression is calm, but I can see the hint of a smile playing on his lips. "I'm not betraying you, Klaus. I'm saving Katherine from you."

My laughter is cold and mirthless. "You think you can save her from me? I own her, Elijah. She's mine to use as I see fit."

Elijah's eyes flash with anger, but I just keep going. "I can do whatever I want to her, and there's nothing you can do to stop me."

I take a step closer to him, my fangs bared. "You think you love her, Elijah? You think you can protect her from me? I'll show you what it means to cross me."

My eyes narrow, my voice dropping to a growl. "Katherine is mine. And I'll do whatever it takes to keep her I don't love her you're absolutely right but I like the chase game brother you just made everything alot more interesting"

Elijah:niklaus

Klaus:love is a weakness brother and you know it I can never love someone but keeping her by my side I will do it its her punishment for running away 500 years ago

Elijah:you have forgiven her brother you are just making excuses you are lieing to your self you can't bear the thought of her being with someone else and you call it punishment

Klaus:I will make her life a living hell brother

Elijah:you don't deserve her I will always protect her niklaus even from you for however long it takes because I am aware of my feelings unlike you

Klaus:so are challenging me bother

Elijah:think whatever you want

Klaus:I will have her with me right by my side in 2 days brother stop me if you can

I smirked as I called a witch to locate Katherine or do whatever it takes to find her location

Katherine pov

Katherine's face was a mask of calm as she entered the Salvatore house, her eyes scanning the room with a hint of wariness. She nodded at Stefan and Elena, her expression unreadable.

"Hey, Katherine," Stefan said, his voice friendly. "Welcome to our home."

"Thanks," she replied, her voice cool. "I appreciate your hospitality."

Elena smiled and handed her a glass of water. "Make yourself at home. We're glad to have you here."

Katherine took the glass and nodded, her eyes never leaving Elena's face. She seemed to be sizing her up, her expression unreadable.

Damon:so back here were you missing me and how did klaus let you leave him

He says joking

As she turned to go to her room, Damon caught her eye and raised an eyebrow. "Hey, Kat," he said, his voice low. "Welcome back."

Katherine's eyes narrowed slightly, but she said nothing, just turned and walked away.

Damon watched her go, a look of concern on his face. He followed her into her room, closing the door behind him.

"Hey, Kat," he said, his voice soft. "What's going on? You seem a little...off."

Katherine's face was still a mask of calm, but her eyes betrayed her, a hint of fear lurking in their depths. "I'm fine, Damon," she said, her voice steady.

But Damon knew her too well. He could see the tension in her body, the way her eyes kept darting to the door. He knew she was scared.

"Kat, what's going on?" he asked again, his voice gentle.

And then, without warning, her face crumpled, tears filling her eyes. Damon's eyes widened in shock, and he pulled her into his arms, holding her tightly.

"Shh, Kat," he whispered. "I've got you. No one can hurt you here."

Katherine clung to him, her body shaking with sobs. Damon held her for a long time, his eyes closed, his heart aching for her.

Finally, she pulled back, her eyes red and puffy. "Klaus," she whispered. "He's going to kill me."

Damon's face hardened, his eyes flashing with anger. "Not while I'm alive," he growled. "No one hurts you, Kat. Not while I'm here to protect you."

Damon:I promised I would kill that BASTARD if he hurts you how dare he

Stefan and elena enter the room

"Katherine, what's going on?" Stefan asks, his voice laced with concern.

"Yeah, what's happening?" Elena adds, her eyes wide with worry.

Katherine takes a deep breath and explains, "I overheard Klaus talking to elijah. He said he was taking revenge on me Elijah helped me to escape klaus was gonna kill me ."

"Revenge for what?" Damon asks, his eyes narrowing.

Katherine shrugs. "Running away 500 years ago  it's karma. I'm not made for love. I always get betrayed."

Damon's expression softens, and he pulls Katherine into a hug. "That's not true, Kat. You deserve love just as much as anyone else."

But Katherine pulls back, her eyes filling with tears. "No, Damon. I don't. I've done too many bad things. I've hurt too many people. I'm not worthy of love."

Stefan and Elena exchange worried glances. "Katherine, that's not true," Stefan says. "You're a good person. You've changed."

But Katherine shakes her head. "I'm not a good person. I'm a monster. And monsters don't deserve love."

Damon's face sets in determination. "I don't care what you say, Kat. I'm going to protect you from Klaus. And I'm going to make sure you know that you're worthy of love."

Katherine's eyes flash with anger. "You can't protect me, Damon. No one can. I'm on my own I don't deserve love ."

But Damon just pulls her back into his arms. "Not while I'm alive, Kat. You're not alone. We're in this together."

Stefan and elena glance at each other worriedly
