"Go away Cole" I grumble walking with heavy footsteps out the gate.
It was already the end of the day and I was heading home excited for thanksgiving break. But Cole killed that joy when we arrived 20 minutes late to class--as expected--because 'the soy sauce wasn't soy sauce'. Whatever that means. So we spent all that time tasting sauces from various resteraunts. We lost track of time and I literally had to bargain with my teacher in order to get my break assignment.
"Oh c'mon, Y. It was twenty minutes! Don't be mad at me" he whines holding onto my shoulders. His weight dragging me down with him.
I roll my eyes at his exaggeration. As we turn the corner I inhale sharply as I almost bump into Ashley.
She looks taken by surprise but hides it by tugging her lips into a smirk. "Is our little happy-go-lucky couple fighting?" She asks sarcastically.
"What is it to you?" I sneer at her not really in the mood.
"Oh. Nothing, it's just that when Cole and I were together we never fought over stupid things." She looks up to Cole with a cheerful smile on her face. "Right, Coley-poo?"
I look at Cole, his blush visible and avoiding eye contact with me. I narrow my eyes at him and turn back to my opponent a hot fire burning inside of me.
"Well if that's the case then you should take him back." I say crossing my hands over my chest. I look up to see Cole's reaction but its not what I expected. All I saw was a flash of hurt on his face, then it quickly changed to panick.
Ashley crosses her arms mimicking my actions. "And why would I do that?"
"It seems to me you're not over your ex sweetheart. I'm just doing you the favor." I respond. Oh no its happening again. And I can't seem to stop the words from coming out. Why am I so angry? I just want punch that snarky little smile off her lips.
Ashley steps closer to me with a scrutinizing look on her face. "And your willing to give him back to me just like that?" She smirks narrowing her eyes at me. I stare back with the same smirk on my face.
"Hahaha Yvette you are sooo funny-" Cole butts in laughing nervously.
"Be quiet!" Ashley and I sync.
I look back at Ashley who looked slightly amused at this point. "Yeah why not?" I respond to her question.
"Ar- Are you saying that you guys aren't lovey-dovey?" Ashley steps back slightly confused. I smirk a feeling of vindication sweeping over me.
Cole takes a step forward and wraps his arm around my waist pulling me closer to him. "No we are. Got a problem with that?"
I look up at him surprised of his sudden actions. He looks down at me desperate and that's when I come to my sense and realize what I had just done. I literally almost gave us away. And to make matters worst, it was to Ashley!
Cole notices and grips onto me tightly almost like he was reassuring me. He gives off a cunning smile to Ashley as of nothing has happened. He pinches me which makes me jolt a bit. I get the message and smile as well.
Ashley stares at us suspiciously up and down and says, "Somethings off about you two. And I'm going to figure out what" She exclaims turning her heel and walking the other way. Cole and I stay in our positions as she turns the corner.
I sigh in relief. That was close. I look down to where Cole hand is placed and notice he is still holding onto me. I elbow his gut.
He bends forward grunting. "What was that for?!"
