Cole's Pov:
The pain erupting in my chest grows every passing minute that I stand here. What is she doing with him? Just friends, my ass.
I envelope my hand into a fist with my right hand and as a result a jolt of pain erupts on my right arm. The aftermath of the accident still had an affect on me, to think that in 4 days it could have healed. I still hold eye contact with Yvette, feeling angry yet slightly amused that she didn't expect my arrival and I'm glad she didn't. Then I wouldn't have caught them like this, all touchy and holding onto each other like their life depended on it. It's a sickening feeling.
I walk away from the scene before me and walk out of her sight. I glance back, and she is still dancing with Oliver but she keeps on searching for me. She doesn't follow me. Good. I sneak around the pillars making sure I'm not seen by her. I'm successful until I bump into a girl. I look down and notice it's the one and only, birthday girl.
"Urugh. I'm s-so sorry" she slurs wiping off what seemed like vomit from the corner of her mouth. I look down at he cup she had in her hand, which was filled with booze. I snatch it out of her hand and shook her gently, this girl was about to pass out.
"Nancy, you have to get a hold of yourself." I scream, trying to not exceed the volume of the music, which seemed like it was getting louder and louder.
"Nancy? Who's Nancy?" She hiccups, as she looks up at me. Her eyebrows were furrowed and her mouth formed a frown. She looked constipated.
"Look, whatever your name is, don't let Yvette see you like th-"
She scoffs snatching the drink back off my hands. "IF she wants to see me. I did the worst thing a best friend could ever do." She pouts misty-eyed. Then out-of-nowhere she bursts out laughing hooking an arm around my neck, yanking me down to her eye level. "But enough about me, what do you and Yvette h-ave going on? Hmm?" She slurs in my ear, wiggling her eyebrows at me.
"You're drunk. You need rest." I say unhooking her arm.
"You look pissed. Huh?! Did you see Yvette kiss Oliver or something?" She teases, and laughs histerically at her own joke. She notices that I don't respond. "Oh my god, did you?!
I huff and shake my head. "No."
"Well I guess that's a good thing because I was sort of rooting for you. Oliver needs someone who will pay more attention to him. He deserves that." She says looking down. What is she even talking about?
I look around and notice that Yvette wasn't at the spot I saw here in a couple minutes ago. I clench my jaw and look back down at Nicole who was now on the ground caressing her cup.
I sigh deeply and hold the bridge of my nose in annoyance. "Where's the bar?" I ask. She doesn't look away from her cup and points straight ahead. I nod my head. In the distance I notice a door, it was made up of wood, nothing compared to the rest of the house.
I reach down and lift Nicole up, hooking her arm around my neck as I hook mine around her waist to keep her leveled. I mentally groan at the thought that she weighed heavier than she looked. I start to stagger torwards the door that oh so happened to be across the dancefloor. As I walked I felt a pair of eyes send daggers at my back, I ignored thinking it was a random human being.
We reached the door and as I flung it open, and to my luck, I didn't catch any horny teenagers in the middle of doing "the nasty" as Yvette called it.
I limp torwards the bed that was in the middle of the room, perfectly set up not one wrinkle to be seen. I set Nicole down onto the bed, instantly she drops face first. I sigh in relief and slowly make my way to the exit while I soothe my shoulder.
"Cole."
I turn around back to face Nicole who lay there almost lifeless. "Don't hurt her." She says solemnly, her voice completely different than a few minutes ago.
I turn my body around and face her. She just lays there not bothering to look at me. "I know." I whisper back. And with that I walk out and close the door behind me.
The tainted air of alcohol blows in my face as I open the door. I catch a glimpse of Yvette from across the room eating nachos with cheese. I smirk at the thought that I finally can get her alone.
I walk up behind her and cover her eyes with my palms. She jumps taken back by the surprise. "I can't see." She says feeling up my hands. Her voice drops to a whisper. "Am I going blind?"
I sniker and let go of her face. "What?"
She blinks slowly and focuses on my face. "Cole? Cole!" She yelps launching at me. She wrapped her arms around my neck, tight, pulling me down a good two feet.
I was speechless. I stood there for a minute just staring down at her face as her head lay on my chest. At this point, my heart pounding so loud it was ringing from my ears. Can she feel it?
She let's go and looks up at me solemnly.
"What?" I ask utterly confused, I never knew she was this bipolar. Then it hit me, the smell of alcohol that came from Yvette mouth. This girl was drunk. How many drunk girls do I have to deal with to get through tonight?
"You know, when I first saw you... I didn't meet you right away.." She chuckles shaking her head as she messes with the spoon in the punch bowl. Her voice then drops, and she turns her head and mumbles something really fast under her breathe.
"What?" I say leaning my head down to her.
"I had a crush on you." She mumbles again, but this time I catch it. A grin slowly forms on my face as she turns around and starts walking in the other direction heading torwards the balcony.
I follow her until she randomly stops walking. We were already mid-way through the balcony, we were completely alone. The only lights that shown the way was the light of the moon that was hung up in the sky. The lights of the hall were off, but colors flashed as we stood outside.
"Why are you here?" She huffs slanting to one side as she tries to look serious.
It was now that I finally noticed how great Yvette looked tonight. I see she did wear a ruby dress. Her eyes sort of sparkled under the light of the moon. The dress hugged her body in all the right places. It didn't take long for me to notice that I was staring at her like a creep.
She walks over to me and stands leaving less than a foot of space between us. She slowly creeps her hands up my back and lays them over my shoulder, almost effortlessly I bring my hands up and lay them on her waist. The warmth radiating off her body envelopes me in some sort of trance. The feeling of her this close to me felt so right, being able to hold her like this made me go insane.
"I thought I told you to stay home."She says my hands feeling right when there on her waist. This felt right.
"I needed to see you."I answer remembering how much I was craving to seeing her.
"I'm glad you came."She giggles.
"I'm glad I can too."I murmur gripping ontk her tighter, wanting to hold her like this for as long as possible.
My gaze locks onto hers. Her eyes flutter as she blinks.
"I wanna kiss you so bad right now."She groans.
"Then do it."I partly smirk.
And that's all it takes.
We never lost eye contact.
Her eyes flutter to a close and she starts leaning forward, my heart rate speeds up and it's like I no longer have control over my body as I do the same.
I close my eyes and await for the contact of our lips.
Her lips soft on mine. The taste of strawberries and mint.
I snake my arms tighter wanting the kiss to be something more. More than just playing pretend.
