It was almost ironic how badly Cole was avoiding me. It was like he'd caught me with the plague.

I'd called him, texted, hell I even had Jonathan drive me over to his house but when Thea answered the door telling me Cole was grocery shopping with their mom I could've sworn I saw a familiar gush of short blonde hair swooshing by behind the door.

Did I do something wrong? Who the hell tells someone they like them and then goes on to do everything possible to avoid them at all cost? You do.

Shut up.

I'd seen him when I walked into school this morning on my way to first period.I was ready to run after him but all that led me to was in front of boys bathroom.

Oliver was another one. He wasn't at school today but apologized for the ruckus that night. He admitted to be joking with Cole about the whole kiss thing, and didn't expect him to take it seriously. We talked later that night and we agreed we would stay as friends. It was easier said than done.

"You look like someone chopped your balls off." Nicole teases me after dropping her bag on the cafeteria table.

"I don't have any balls."My expression stays monotone.

"That's because someone chopped them off!"she exclaims before rolling her eyes at me."What's wrong? You look like shit"

I roll my eyes and take bite of my sandwich, not really up for talking. As if on cue everyone's head turned to the entrance of the cafeteria. There stood two firgures, Cole and Ashley. Oh but it's worse. They were walking together, with their arms interlocked. My gaze lands on Cole's face, his gaze was on his lunch table. He had a motionless expression. Ashley glared at me for a split second before the corners of her mouth lifted up to form a sly grin.

"Wha- Please tell me that's part of your weird deal with him." Nicole interjects.

My eyes fix on Cole as he reaches his lunch table. His body was tense as he walked and sat down. I gazed up at Ashley who started to go behind him and drag her crusty hands all over his chest.

I felt my heart ache at the gesture, hoping he would do something to get her crabby hands off of him. Cole flinches and pulls her hands away, motioning her to sit down next to him. She pouted her lip disappointed. I watch her closely as she ponders her next move. When Cole was off guard talking to Sean, she swiftly lands on his lap and hooks her arm securely around his neck. And what happens next came out as a total blur, due to the shock.

Oh no she didn't.

As Ashley smears her lips all over his face Cole is taken back for a moment. That was the last straw, I slam my fork on the table and march over to where they were. Cole finally is able to push her off to see me standing in front of them eyes blazing.

Now what Yvette? You just came here all mad and shit and you have no idea what to say next. Nice!

"Cole. Can I talk to you for a second?" I say more as a command than a question.

"I don't think there is anything for us to talk about." He sneers wiping of his lips with his sleeve. I narrow my eyes at him as he plays around with the food on his plate. Ashley was now off of him and standing in front of me.

"You heard him, now scram." She snaps hands on her hips.

"Last time I checked I was talking to him, not his personal play toy." I snap back. I could hear Sean stifle a laugh and tries to hide it by drinking water. I push her to the side and grip onto Cole's wrist and pull him outside of the cafeteria.

"What was that?" I ask him

"What was what?" He responds playing dumb.

"Really Cole? You've been ignoring me, my calls, texts! What's up with you?"

He shakes his head and averts eye contact. "Nothing that concerns you."

"Did I do something wrong to make you ignore me all this time?" I ask stepping closer.

He narrows his eyes at me and continues to stare at me. He inches closer while I step back until the cold wall is pressed against my back. He scoffs and leans forward placing his right hand next to my head.

"What makes you think I'm like this because of you?"

Why was he being like this?

" I don't want to fight, Cole." I mutter keeping my head bowed down.

"This isn't a fight. I just think we have completed what we aimed for. So there's no need to continue this charade between us."

"Charade? I thought-." I swallow the urge to cry and look up at him. His gaze is soft yet intense. "What about that night where you confessed to me?"

He clenches his jaw and inhales through his nose. "That was a mistake." He breathes out looking down.

I look up at him not breaking eye contact.

Confess to him you dumbass!

No! What if he rejects me?

He confessed to you

Didn't you hear him? He said it was a mistake.

"I see." I clear my throat keeping my gaze on the floor. You can't cry. This isn't anything to cry about.

"Well I guess it worked, you got what you wanted. Ashley is your girlfriend again." I confirm raising my head up. A hurt look flashed his face but it quickly it fell to a serious one.

"Yeah." He drops his hand and stuffs them into his pockets. He proceeds to have fixed eyes on me, he looked confused, like he was debating to do something. I hoped he was thinking of doing something, please do something.

"Okay" I mumble keeping the urge to cry right then and there. What is wrong with me? Isn't this what you two agreed on? You knew this was bound to end. He got what he wanted, so let it go.

He nods his head and turns around and walks off, leaving me stranded there in the corner of the hallway. Although it seemed like the right thing to do, my heart ached. This is right. You don't need him...
