Rani POV
I'm sitting on the wooden bench near the boxing ring watching as people come in and explain why my arm is in a sling. I wasn't supposed to be here today, with my good friend Mallory taking my place but I couldn't just sit at home. I wanted to attend the morning class to make sure she's doing it right, I guess.
Emma happens to walk in and find my self watching her as she walks, unaware of me only a few feet away. She's dressed in tight leggings and a crop top with a jacket over her arms. Something to similar to my own outfit, even though I'm not boxing.
The leggings honestly happen to work great for her ass maybe even better than how mine does. Not that I was looking.
I definitely was.
Emma is an attractive woman and there's no harm in taking her in. What can I say I like women and it just so turns out Emma's not that bad looking.
If it were anyone else I would have tried sleeping with her at this point but this is my best friends ex/baby mama, that would just feel wrong.
She notices me and I easily make out the confusion in her face before a motherly frown of disapproval take sits place. Then she's walking my way.
A perfectly shaped brow is raised when she stops in front of me. "I thought you said you wouldn't be here, today."
I shrug with one shoulder. "I changed my mind, I gotta make sure Mallory is a good replacement for me." I motion with my good arm to the blonde on the other side of the boxing gym.
She hums. "How's your arm? I see you got the sling I suggested."
"Yep, I went to my doctor this mornqing. It's helping for sure. Thanks for the suggestion." I look at the sling before giving her a genuine smile.
"No, problem. I'm gonna go get some gear and settle down." She smiles back before walking away and I keep my eyes on her.
I'm still not use to this side of her but I appreciate her checking in. She really is different now.
The high school Emma would never be caring, she didn't even care about herself. Don't get me wrong It was obvious that she cares for Bellamy at least but I didn't realize how far that went.
How she treated Ari really stuck with me longer than Ari because Ari is just the type to forgive easily, I'm not like that at all. Also Ari has a daughter with her, so she at least has to play nice for Bellamy.
I was the one that had to wipe Ari's tears every time Emma made her cry. Ari is the sweetest most selfless person alive, it takes a fucked up person to treat her as shitty as Emma did. Especially when you get to know her.
Even with that reasoning I do feel slightly bad for being an asshole. We were kids back then and people change.
Mallory's voice fills the gym as she introduces herself and then she goes over a small summary of the morning before beginning the warmup.
After that they get into partner mitt work. Emma pairs up with a woman I recognize as Allison. I'm pretty well acquainted with most of the people that attend the classes. It helps to have some connection with them.
Out of everyone, I find myself watching Emma the most. She wasn't perfect, but she was trying. She was determined, pushing herself to get better. She had this focus, this drive that I couldn't ignore. There was something admirable about it all.
I also noted that Mallory was doing a decent job filling in for me, but I couldn't help but feel a twinge of jealousy. I really enjoy teaching boxing almost more than doing it. It's like giving someone the tools to fight their own battles, whatever they may be. For me they're mostly mental.
