"Rani is so rude." I complain to Ari and Sadia as I sit on one of their living room couches.
Today is my day with Bellamy so I came to pick her up but first I wanted to tell Ari and Sadia about my encounter with Rani. Bellamy's upstairs right now in the play room with her little brother and sister. I told her to go play while I talk to Ari and Sadia. She doesn't need to hear this conversation, she's at the age where she understands all too well.
We've never went to court about visitation, we set it up ourselves. We usually get four days with her each. It's mostly my off days that I get her because I wouldn't get much time with her on my workdays, which sucks but that's just how it is and I prefer weekends, hence why they get Saturday one week and I get Sunday. Then the next week I get both Saturday and Sunday.
The visitation system we have is kinda all over the place because sometimes I get called in when I have Bellamy but it works for us.
Ari's shaped brows furrow. "What did she do?"
Sadia snorts across from me, where her and Ari sit on the other couch, holding her one year old son, Noah.
"How did you even run into her?" Comes Sadia's question right after Ari's.
"Yesterday, I decided to go to the gym and the one I chose happened to be hers. She saw me there and started bringing up high school me. Saying it's unfortunate I'm Bellamy's mom. Just shit like that." I say it casually like it doesn't bother me but that one specifically stung a bit. I like to think I'm a good mom. I try my best at least.
I'm not gonna let that stop me from going of course, in fact I already decided to take Bellamy with me. I want to make it a routine on my off days because I actually want to get my body more defined, plus, it gives me and Bellamy something to do together early this morning. Most fun things are closed right now.
I plan to take her to the zoo later. I always try to take her somewhere fun with just the two of us.
It's crazy that even Ari's sister isn't as rude to me as Rani was, she plays nice when she has to be around me although I know she can't stand me deep down.
"I'll talk to her about that." Ari offers.
I shake my head. "No, don't do that it'll make it worse. Just, do you know why she still hates me so much when you two don't?"
She shrugs. "I guess Me and Sadia got to know the new you, Rani assumes you're the same even if you don't show it. You're just waiting to do something slimy, her words not mine. She just doesn't know you."
What the hell could I do that's considered slimy? I don't even know why I care what she thinks about me. High school Emma would never.
I guess that's the answer, I'm not the young Emma.
I run a hand through my hair with a sigh, a little frustrated with myself for caring so much. "I just don't get her deal, I'm gonna get Bellamy so we can go."
"Ok, grab some French toast sticks from the kitchen when you pass, I made too many." Sadia says as I stand.
I chuckle. "I will."
"If Rani got to know you like we do she'd like you. You're a good mother Emma. Don't ever doubt it." She smiles at me.
I return a smile, the compliment actually meaning a lot. "Thank you but she said she doesn't want to know me."
"Just give her a chance to warm up to you." Ari assures.
"Sure." I smile and walk off to get Bellamy.
Just like I said I grab a few French toast sticks and eat them as I walk to the playroom down the hall. I enter the room finding the kids playing with a kitchen set.
