Me and Bellamy walk into the hospital, my time off request sheet in hand. There was really no need to wait until Monday, so here we are.

I greet a few co workers as we pass, most of them stopping to tell me how beautiful my baby is. Which Bellamy sucks up to, trying to act extra cute and shy. Knowing damn well she's anything but shy.

We reached the HR office, and I handed over the paperwork. Just as I turned to leave, I caught sight of Mason walking briskly down the hall, a deep frown creasing his brow. He looked up and noticed me, slowing his steps.

"Emma, hey," he said, glancing between me and Bellamy. "What are you doing here?"

"Just dropping off a form," I reply. "Everything okay?"

Mason hesitates, looking uncomfortable. "Yeah, just... a tough case in the ER. Kid came in with a broken arm and bruises. Suspicious circumstances, if you know what I mean."

I swallow. "What do you mean?"

He lowers his voice, glancing around. "The mom brought him in at 12:00 am last night, and the story doesn't add up."

Before I could ask any more questions, the familiar sound of a voice made me freeze. I turn my head just in time to see Erik, stepping out of one of the rooms, looking stern and agitated. Following behind him was Amber.

"Was his name Will Parker?" I whisper, aware of HIPPA and the patient confidentiality laws.

Mason nods making my heart drop. While he seems confused by me knowing.

"That's my little brother, if you really think the story doesn't add up, let the CPS worker know now please." I tell him before I grab Bellamy's hand and walk us over.

It wouldn't be too far fetched both of his parents are shit, unfortunately.

"W-What's wrong?" Bellamy asks as we walk over to Erik and Amber, both seem to be arguing.

"Will broke his arm." I tell her, leaving it at that.

"I told you he fell off the bed!" Me and Bellamy go unnoticed by Amber and Erik as we approach but their argument becomes audible.

Unless he sleeps on the top of a bunk bed, I'm calling bullshit.

Amber stood with her back to me, blocking the doorway to a room. Erik was facing her, his expression caught between anger and disbelief.

"I don't believe you for a second, Amber." Erik retorts, his voice low but cutting.

"What the hell do you know, Erik?" she shoots back, eyes blazing with accusation.

"What's going on?" I ask, stepping forward and still holding Bellamy's hand tight. Probably a little too tight, my nerves aren't the best right now.

Amber turns, and when her icy eyes meet mine, they narrow into cold slits. It's been years since I've seen her but she still looks like the same stuck up blonde I remember.

"What are you doing here?" She spits, a sneer on her lips as she looks me over.

"I work here and came to drop something off." I tell, my voice steady, eyes flickering to the door. "What's going on here?" I nod toward the room.

"None of your business." She snaps, trying to block my view. But Erik's eyes meet mine, weary and pleading.

"It's Will." He supplies, voice straining. "He's got a broken arm, and Amber says he fell but-"

"He did fall!" Amber interrupts, voice shrill.

I take a breath, my heart clenching. "I want to see him." I demand, not asking for permission but stating a fact. Her glare could've burned a hole through me, but I ignore it, looking past her into the room.
