IT HAD ONLY BEEN A FEW DAYS SINCE BEN AND WILLOWS DATE . . . AND THEIR FIRST KISS. She was happier than ever. She was no longer having nightmares, but good dreams. The only thing that kept her awake at night was the fact that none of it was real. He was under a spell, but that didn't stop her from being happy. They were the talk of the school. Mostly, bad. But some good.
Walking into Remedial Goodness 101, she wore a wide grin on her face. Mal and Evie shared a look and with a roll of their eyes, they took a seat at their usual table. She refused to tell them what actually happened on their date. They noticed a change in her. They all did. They could feel it.
Fairy Godmother rolled in a very large television. "Okay, children. As you know, this thursday is family day here at Auradon Prep. And because your parents can't be here due to . . . distance . . . we've arranged a very special treat," she announced, turning the television on. It revealed their parents; Evil Queen, Maleficent, Jafaar, Cruella De Vil, and even Mother Gothel who didn't look like she wanted to be there but she was forced.
"I don't see anything, nor do I hear," Maleficent says, her face very close to the screen. Godmother waves the kids to the front of the room while Maleficent and the others struggled to get their side working, "Can I see the remote? Is this thing on?" Maleficent asks, pushing the buttons on a remote controller the Evil Queen handed her. They assumed that the villains side started working when Evil Queen said, "Evie, it's mommy! Look how beautiful. You know what they say. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree."
"Don't you mean weeds?" Maleficent retorted, rolling her eyes. Mother Gothel got closer to the screen at the sight of her daughter in brighter colors than she usually wore and even makeup. "Willow? Is that you darling?"
"Hi, mother." Willow greets, raising a hand.
Mother Gothel narrowed her eyes and proceeded to say, "Still not as beautiful and young looking as me, but it'll do," she leaned away and walked out of the screen. Willow frowned heavily and she felt a hand on her lower back. Looking over, Carlos offered her a sympathetic smile. Cruella De Vil leaned forward, "Who's the old bat?" she asks, referring to fairy godmother.
"This is Fairy Godmother," Mal says.
"Still doing tricks with eggplants?" Maleficent asks as she and the others fell into a fit of laughter. "I turned a pumpkin into a beautiful carriage!" Godmother exclaims, eager to defend herself and her beautiful work.
"You really couldn't give Cinderella till one-a.m? I mean, really. What, the hamsters had to be back on their little wheels?" Maleficent continued.
"They were mice!" Godmother exclaims and turns toward the VK's, "They were mice. They were not . . ."
Mal gently patted her shoulder, "Thank you so much. Thank you." Before Godmother left the screen view, she leans in and says, "They were mice."
