Corey Seager - "Unexpected Chemistry"

Y/N sat nervously at the corner table of the bustling Italian restaurant downtown, fidgeting with her napkin and stealing glances at her phone. This date set up by Marcus, her close friend MeMe's boyfriend, had her both excited and anxious. She trusted Marcus's judgement, but dating was always a gamble.

Across the restaurant, Corey checked his watched for what felt like the hundredth time as he tried to stay calm. Marcus had been insistent that he and Y/N would hit it off, citing their shared interests and personalities. Corey hoped Marcus was right after since he has been looking for the perfect girl after his break up with his high school sweetheart he found out was cheating on him. "Trust me, Y/N is different. She's cool, east to talk to, and I think you two would hit if off. Just give it a shot" Marcus voiced echoed in his thoughts as he exited his car to walk in the restaurant.

Just as Y/N was debating to order a drink Corey approached her. She had a warm smile and a relaxed demeanor that immediately put him at ease. "Corey, right?" she greeted him, extending her hand. "Yeah, that's me," Corey replied, shaking her hand with a smile. "Nice to formally meet you, Y/N."

They settled into their table, conversation flowing effortlessly. Y/N talked about her job in graphic design, her passion evident in the way she described her latest projects. Corey shared stories from the baseball field, his love for the sport shining through. As they enjoyed their meal, they discovered their mutual interests in music, travel, and even a shared love for classic movies. Corey found himself laughing at Y/N's jokes and admiring her intelligence and wit. She was easy to talk to, and for the first time in a long while, Corey felt a genuine connection.

They lingered over dessert, not wanting the night to end. Y/N shared stories about her friends and family, and Corey found himself opening up about aspirations beyond baseball. They bonded over their similar values and ambitions, realizing they had more in common than they initially thought. By the end of the evening, Corey knew he wanted to see Y/N again. He walked her to her car, thanking her for a wonderful night. Y/N smiled warmly, her eyes sparkling in the dim streetlights.

"I had a great time" Corey told her. "I had a great time too, Corey," she said softly. "Let's do this again sometime?" Corey nodded eagerly, feeling a sense off of hope he hadn't felt in a long time. "Definitely." They exchanged goodnight hugs, each feeling a thrill of excitement for what the future might hold. As Corey drove home, he couldn't shake the feeling that maybe, just maybe, Marcus and MeMe had been right all along. Sometimes, unexpected chemistry could be found in the most unlikely setups.
