Juan Soto - The Ultimate Catch

The evening sky was painted in shades of orange and pink as I paced the edge of the field, nervous energy coursing through me. I walked over to the pitcher's mound, my heart racing more than any game I'd ever played. The stadium was empty except for a few scattered lights that created a magical ambiance. Aaron, my team mate and confidant, stood nearby a grin on his face.

"Juan, you've got this", Aaron said, clapping me on my shoulder. "She's going to love it." I nodded, trying to muster a semblance of calm. "I hope so. I just want everything to be perfect." Aaron chuckled. "It's going to be. The setup is amazing, All you need to do is be yourself." He was always the voice of reason. "Yeah," I said, glancing at the rows of empty seats in the stands, "But this is a big moment. I want it to be memorable."

Aaron: You sure you're ready for this Juan?

Juan: Yeah, I'm ready

Aaron: Everything's set up perfectly

Juan: Yeah it is, thanks for helping me with everything

Aaron: Not a problem. Now, where's y/n? She's always running late

Juan: (Laughs) Man, leave my girl alone

My nerves finally settled as I looked out in the field where roses and candles were meticulously prepared lining the base paths. I took a deep breath as I glanced at my watch. The filed gate creaked open as both Aaron and I turned around as we spotted y/n. Under the pretense of a team dinner she looked around at the empty stadium. I took another deep breath to steady myself as I walked toward her, my heart beating fast. Her eyes wide with wonder takin in the beautiful setup.

"Juan this is amazing!" Y/n exclaimed, her voice filled with awe. "I can't believe you did all this." I smiled. "I wanted to create a special moment for us, something we'd remember forever." She moved closer, her eyes sparkling with curiosity. I took her hand in mine and guided her to the center of the diamond where the sunset beamed giving the perfect backdrop. As we reached the center of the diamond I looked over at Aaron, who was stationed in the dugout, trying to look inconspicuous. With a nod, Aaron stepped out and made his way to the pitcher's mound. He carried a baseball, but this one was different-emblazoned with a message inside.

"Y/n", I begin my voice getting a little choked up, "these past three years with you have been the happiest of my life. I can't imagine my future without you." Aaron reached the mound and threw the baseball towards me and I caught it. I gave the ball to y/n, "unwrap it". As she unwrapped the ball I positioned myself and got on one knee. I pulled out the velvet box the was hidden away in my pocket as y/n read the message on the ball. "Y/n, would you do me the honor of being my wife?" I asked her as her eyes filled up with joy. "Juan, this is...incredible. Of course I will!" she said making my heart flutter. As I stood up and was about to slip the ring on her finger, a loud unexpected noise then a voice erupted from the stadium's sound system.

"Ugh, sorry Juan...a little technical difficulties" our team DJ stated before he played our song, "Perfect" by Ed Sheeran. Y/n giggled, wiping away her tears. "Well, I guess the stadium wanted to add its own touch to the proposal!" she said as we both laughed and I placed the ring on her finger. We embraced as the sun dipped below the horizon, still painting the skin shades of pink and orange. "Despite the unexpected technical difficulties, I hope this will always be one of our favorite memories" I told her looking into her eyes as I touched her chin pulling her in for a kiss.

As we walked hand in hand off the field, Aaron joined us with a grin. "See? It's proposal you'll never forget." I laughed, squeezing y/n's hand. "Definitely unforgettable." We left the stadium, or hearts light and full of joy, and I knew this was a day we would cherish forever. Y/n has always been my ultimate catch.
