CJ Abrams - Journalistic Curveball

Y/N had always been captivated by the thrill of sports, but her fascination reached new heights when she took a new assignment to cover baseball. On the first day of her new assignment she met CJ Abrams, the charismatic and talented young player who seemed destined for greatness. As a sports journalist covering the sports scene, Y/N found herself drawn to CJ not just for his skill on the field, but for the enigmatic aura that surrounded him off it.

Their first encounter was at a post-game press conference. CJ stood tall and confident, effortlessly charming the reporters with his easy smile and thoughtful answers. Y/N couldn't help but intrigues by his presence, his eyes sparkling with determination and a hint of something darker beneath the surface. As weeks passed, Y/N's assignments often brought her to CJ's games and events. She found herself observing him closely, not jus as a journalist but as someone increasingly fascinated by his complexities. CJ, in turn, seemed to notice her presence admits the crowd, his gaze lingering a faction longer than necessary whenever their eyes met.

Today was different, y/n had to interview CJ one on one for an upcoming feature. She did not know what to expect due to his guarded personality. Th interview was set in a quiet corner of the stadium's cafe, chosen by CJ for a relaxed atmosphere away from the media frenzy. Y/n arrived early, her notebook and recorder ready. She glanced around, spotting CJ already seated overlooking the field out the window, a coffee in hand and a baseball cap pulled low over his eyes. Approaching cautiously, Y/n introduced herself with a smile. "Mr. Abrams, thank you for takin the time to meet with me." CJ nodded, offering a polite smile in return. "Call me CJ. And no problem, glad to chat."

As they settled into conversation, Y/n began with the usual questions about his career and achievements. CJ's responses were measured, professional, giving away little of the man behind the star athlete. Y/n sensed she needed to steer the interview in a different direction to get beyond the rehearsed answers. "So, CJ," Y/n started, leaning forward slightly, "what's the hardest part about being CJ Abrams, the person, not just the baseball player?" She asked.

CJ raised an eyebrow, clearly caught off guard by the question. He hesitated for a moment, then replied, "Honestly? Balancing it all. There's the public CJ that everyone sees, and then there's the private one who just wants some normalcy." Y/n sensed an opening. "Tell me about that private CJ. What does he do when he's not on the field?" She questioned. CJ chuckled softly, relaxing a fraction. "Well, I'm a pretty regular guy, I think. I like hiking, spending time with family, playing guitar badly..." Y/n smiled, jotting down notes. "Guitar? I didn't know that. Do you have a favorite song you like to play?"

CJ's demeanor visibly softened as he spoke about his hobby, a spark of genuine enthusiasm replacing his guarded demeanor. "I'm also a movie buff. I can quote lines from 'The Godfather' like nobody's business" he added laughing which made Y/n laughed. "Impressive! Is that your go-to movie for a lazy Sunday afternoon?" CJ nodded, his smile widening. "Year, among others. What about you, Y/n? What do you do when you're not chasing stories? He asked.

Y/n hesitated, caught off guard by the question directed at her. "Um, I enjoy photography actually. It's a hobby I'e had since college." CJ's interest was piqued. "That's cool. What do you like to photograph?" He asked. "Nature mostly," y/n replied, feeling herself relax as the conversation veered away from the interview script. "Landscapes, sunsets...It's calming."

Their dialogue flowed effortlessly, weaving between personal anecdotes and shared interests. Y/n found herself drawn to CJ's passion for baseball and his genuine humility despite his fame. CJ, in turn, was captivated by Y/n's intelligence and the way she genuinely listened to his answers. As the interview progressed, Y/n couldn't help but notice the subtle flirtation lacing their banter. CJ's compliments about he insightful questions and the way he leaned in closer as they discussed his off-season travels made her heart race a little faster.

"You know, Y/n," CJ said, his voice dropping slightly as he leaned across the table, "this interview has been surprisingly enjoyable." Y/n met his gaze feeling a rush of warmth spread through her. "I'm glad to hear that, CJ. You've been more open than I expected." CJ shrugged casually, a playful glint in his eyes. "Well, you have a way of making me feel comfortable. It's refreshing." Their eyes locked, and for a moment, the cafe seemed to fade away around them. Y/n felt a flutter of excitement mixed with apprehension. This was uncharted territory, blurring the lines between professional curiosity an person interest. Before she could respond, CJ continued softly, "Would you like to continue this conversation over dinner sometime? No cameras, no. interviews. Just us."

Y/n's hear skipped a beat. She hesitated for a moment, considering the implications of crossing that line. But then she found herself smiling, her answer clear. "I'd like that, CJ. Dinner sounds...perfect."

They exchanged numbers, their hands brushing briefly as y/n reached for her phone. The interview had taken an unexpected turn, evolving into a story of its own-a story of two people finding a connection admits the hustle and bustle of their professional lives. As they parted ways, y/n couldn't help but feel a sense of exhilaration. She had uncovered more than just a headline-worthy story; she had found something real with CJ Abrams, the person behind the baseball star. And CJ, in turn, had discovered a journalist who saw beyond the surface, who had thrown a curveball that led to something unexpectedly beautiful.
